Greatest Movie of All Time, Sci-Fi/Fantasy Third Round

(Intro from the initial thread:)

OK. Here's the deal. Being a little bored, being a movie nerd and having a little extra time, I've built a few brackets. The idea is to, eventually, crown the Greatest Movie of All Time. (Hence the thread title.)

First, these are the movies I happened to choose. Some good ones got left out. Some that you think are good aren't thought good by the masses or, more importantly, by me -- since, well, I made the bracket. And you may then disagree with the seedings, too. And that's fair. But just play along, if you're interested. Could be fun.

Reply on the thread with the seeds and names of your winners of each pairing. I'll let the first round go for a while, then add up the votes and post the winners/next round's pairings.

Not represented in this particular tournament are the 'smaller' genres, like war, western, documentary, etc. And, sorry international MFPers, I didn't go foreign, either. So consider this The Greatest (American) Movie of All Time Bracket Tourney, I suppose.

The four genre regions are Comedy, Action, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Drama/Thriller. Winners of each region will be determined, starting with Comedy, and then will pair off for the Final Four. Comedy will face Drama/Thriller, Action will meet Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

And to spark more discussion, feel free to give your reasons for some of your choices!

Comedy's region has a winner; the genre will be represented in the Final Four by Monty Python: Holy Grail. Action, too, has given us a representative in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc. Now, it's time for Sci-Fi/Fantasy, which will then be followed by Drama/Thriller.

    (1) Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back (Close, but this was the best of the trilogy and it's the freaking trilogy)
    (12) Jurassic Park (Damn Hard Choice, but Jurassic Park had better source material and at the time was just as impressive from a special efx standpoint)

    (3) Bladerunner (The fact this movie was made 30 years ago and still stands up to modern scifi says it all)
    (2) Alien (Any movie that still gives me nightmares gets my vote.)

    Sorry just not into star wars stuff.. nor LOTR, I tried watching the first lotr one and I got asleep after 20 min, no kidding!
    I prefer mystery/comedy myself.

    Just gotta say, Jurassic Park....when they enter the park, and the music swells and the camera pans around and you see those Brontosaurus for the first time....it all just seemed so real...I remember seeing it in the theater...and damn if it still doesn't bring a tear to the eye.

    The movie experience makes the difference too. I totally remember seeing "Star Wars: A New Hope" in the theatres in '77 as a teen. Back at that time, theatres only had one or two movies showing at them and you had to wait for whatever time you were going to in line. So first you had to wait in line to buy the ticket, then you had to wait in line to get in. I went with my brothers and cousin to see them and distinctly remember waiting in line for 4 hours (2 for the ticket, then 2 to get in), and once in settled in and anxiously waited for the movie to begin. When it did you heard the cheering. As the movie progressed, you heard the laughter, the "oohs" and "ahs" and the "oh ****" every now and then. There was clapping and "hell yeahs" when the Death Star was destroyed and at the end a standing ovation from the crowd. Leaving the theatre in awe and with big grins on our faces we recapped...........................................then we got in line again to get another ticket. Memories.
