  • I'm a climber and have been doing it for over 15 years. When you start out, try and focus on using your legs as much as possible. Your natural instinct is going to be to pull and the next day you will be more sore than you have ever been. Your legs are larger muscles and won't tire as much. Use your arms to keep you into the wall, not get you up it. Stretch your forearms after too.

I'm glad you brought that up... I want to get a membership at a rock climbing place when school starts again (if i can afford it haha), but I don't know much about it either... I'd love some info too.

Its a really great work out because its like combination cardio and lifting weight (your own). Most climbing gyms are really great with first timers they explain everything in full detail and have beginner packages to use equipment. The best walls to start with are going to be the ones with lots of large holds and the ones that slant away from you like going up a really REALLY steep hill. Good luck to both of you! Its really satisfying to get to the top! :glasses:

(and yes stretch stretch stretch your forearms will be TIGHT!)
