Has anybody on here had this done? I had a car accident back on 1/24/12, and I have 2 herniated discs in my neck. An epidural steroid injection already failed after 5 days, and now they are talking aobut doing this. To me, this almost seems like it might be a waste? Any input would be much appreciated!!!!

In running circles it has a fan base and its detractors. I haven't seen anything yet that has proven its efficacy (even though I know a few runners that wouldn't think of racing without it). I'm not convinced it's beneficial but at least it's non-invasive.

Very true. I thought it was some sort of medicated tape or something, the way it sounded from my massage therapist. My chiropractor said it is just different patterns of tape. Just doesn't seem that it would do much for herniated discs.
  • Kinesio has its benefits but more than anything it is there to reinforce any manipulation or soft tissue work provided by your therapist. See it as an extra pair of hands that continues the good work done in sessions and supports you until your next session. I would suggest trying it, it has worked for me and several people i have treated. Its a great additional tool that works longer than most therapy undertaken and can be a lot more comfortable.

With your injury i expect flexing your neck is the biggest issue and that you probably get spasms from time to time. By taping your neck whilst it is placed in its ideal position, whenever it falls out of that position and into a more painful position the tape will act as a gentle reminder to you and your nervous system not to do that and over time things begin to ease and fatigued muscle begins to normalize, with opposing muscle groups easing. You should try it, you will be surprised and impressed.
