Do diet pills work?

Is it advisable to take diet pills and do they actually help you lose weight - not water weight but actual FAT? I think I need a bump with my weight-loss and was considering taking these but I don't want to if it just means I'm not losing weight sensibly.
If you take diet pills which ones are they? Are they worth the money? How do they work?
Thanks for any help!
Also I'm from the UK, so I'm not sure if the types of diet pills available vary country to country, I'd much rather buy diet pills from the shop than get them shipped.

No, they are usually caffeine or adrenal gland based meaning a VERY mild increase of metabolism. You'd be best in saving your money.0

Dayum. Ok, I didn't think they'd be very effective but I've clung to the hope that someone out there knows of some magical fat-zapping pill that actually works with weight-loss haha  If only there were quick fixes!0 -

It'd be banned by the FDA if it worked LOL :laugh:0 -
If not being fat was as easy as popping a pill, no one would be overweight.0

No and you are young, by your picture, you don't need diet pills or even to lose much weight. Lift weights, gain some definition and it will make a huge difference.0

Ah well I was overweight at the time I started weight-loss, the photo was taken before then and the hoody in that photo hides my belly flab apparently my ideal weight is around 8 stone 6 pounds or something, because I'm a shorty. I'm around 9 stone 7 pounds right now but it's my belly I'm having the biggest issue with, what with not being able to spot reduce, I was just hoping there might be a pill that could enhance breakdown of the adipose tissue around the stomach. But it's looking unlikely.
I had confidence with my body as I was losing weight, apart from my stomach, but now my breasts are shrinking (they were small to begin with!) I'm getting a complex about it. I just don't feel in proportion *sigh*0 -
