First Time Lifter

Anyone have tips or routines they can recommend? I've been doing a lot of cardio and decided I want to focus more on lifting to tone and define the muscles I have. However, I am clueless on what to do so ANY help / thoughts / tips / etc would be BEYOND greatly appreciated.

    I am also a first-time lifter and have found The New Rules of Lifting for Women to be immensely helpful. It's a really informative books and contains a six month program. I just began today and it went really successfully for my first time ever lifting.
