So I have had a Polar FT4 for a couple months now and it works great. Last week I decided to try it out while I was swimming. It would work fine when I was standing in the water but as soon as I started swimming and went underwater the transmitter would lose signal.

I've read that you can wear these while swimming so I'm really confused. I had the strap pretty tight and I was little upset that it didn't work. I'm a pretty quick swimmer, so maybe that had something to do with it? I used to swim in college so I was really interested to see how much I burn during a good swim.

Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks

Sounds like the water turbulence is affecting the sensors' contact with your skin. Someone in another recent thread mentioned medical tape, like one piece, on the transmitter strap to keep it in contact with the skin.

I use mine swimming. I guess I'm not very fast...:ohwell:

thanks for the suggestion. it doesn't feel like it is moving but it very well could be. I'll definitely try that. I was wondering if maybe the water chemistry is just throwing it off as well...hmmm
