Weak/Low endurance Shoulders - any suggestions?

I lift weights and consider myself reasonably knowledgeable, however there is a gap in my set when it comes to working the fine muscles of the shoulder. I can exercise my deltoids no problem, but overall I have weak shoulders, let me rephrase, shoulders lacking endurance. I've done some of these instructor led cardio-weights (HIIT?) type sessions, and I do fine and well in everything except when we get to shoulders, and then I do the same weights as old ladies, and no offense to the old ladies intended. I kind of need something that is just above Physical Therapy type exercises to build up strength/endurance.

Anyone have any resources (links, etc) where I can learn about these type things?

Thanks

I would look at doing more compound lifts especially presses (military barbell and overhead). These will work all the muscles in your shoulders and the traps too.

I'm just getting started with doing military barbell presses with just the olympic bar, and I find it quite challenging already. Starting Strength DVD has a GREAT explanation of the compound lifts for beginners that is really helpful including presses.

You can also look through Mark Rippetoe's youtube videos for compound lifts. There's some really good information there that might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKEuWnMwkXY&feature=relmfu There are more on the press on the right if you click to see more detail on the lift (position, execution, proper lines, etc.)

Rotator cuff workouts will be helpful also: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/criticalbench24.htm

    Hope this helps!

I used to have very weak shoulders, but they have improved so much over the last year or so. What helped - PULLUPS. I did a lot of pullups, probably 40-50 a week, I used assistance (a thin band) but I really think it helped. Plus I lift 2x a week as well. HTH
