Food allergies and snacking

Hi!
I have been deadly allergic to all nuts (especially peanuts!!) for my entire life. Now that I am trying to get into shape, a lot of the magazine articles that I read always suggest to eat a spoonful of peanut butter or a handful of almonds. Well unless I want to end up in the hospital, those are not good food choices for me. Is there any one else out there with the same food allergy problems? Can anyone recommend good snacks that have the same nutrition as nuts?
Thanks!

Those are recommended snacks because the fat content keeps you full and they don't spike your insulin levels. Black olives (if you like them) are a great alternative. You could also dip some raw veggies in some homemade guacamole or store-bought hummus. The dips would serve a similar purpose. And actually, you can now buy hummus in little "to go" packages for easy portability!0
