Ive been dieting and tracking everything i put in my mouth for about 5 weeks now..today is my second day on this site..My problem is I cant seem to eat the 1300 calories a day that I'm suppose to...I've never been a real big eater..My huge weight gain was from eating CRAP (chocolate, chips, fast food, lots of bread and potatoes) drinking only soda lots of it! I have completely stopped drinking soda I only drink water... I have replaced all the goodies i use to eat with lots of fruits and veggies and lean meat..my weight loss so far is 26 lbs...my question is, is it okay that Im only eating 800-1000 cal. a day sometimes less? Is that healthy?
Thank you in advance for your replies,
Sandy

I am not expert......
From what information i have gathered...you will lose more weight eating less....but you are also losing lean muscle mass....which is not something you want to do. I prefer to keep my body healthy and try to eat as many calories as i should...which is my 1200 + exercise calories......some days i do better than others..

You will probably get bombarded with people criticizing you for eating this way. I won't do that, but in all honesty, it's probably not the best way to go about losing weight for the long haul. Try adding a hand full of nuts or trail mix in as a snack. High in protein and an easy way to bump up the calories quickly.
Edited to add: If you search around on the forums, you will get a lot of information on why you shouldn't eat this way. Don't have time to get into the details ATM.0 -

Eating that little isn't healthy. Doing that will lead to more muscle loss which in turn will slow down your metabolism and making it harder to lose weight long term. Also, higher calories doesn't mean more quantity. It's called eating smart. Add a protein shake (a higher calorie one like muscle milk is 300 calories per two scoops) instead of one of your snacks. You can eat a handful of nuts or even my favorite trick eating spoonfuls of peanut butter. Cooking in EVOO instead of cooking spray also helps. If I can eat 3000 healthy calories, then you can eat 1300.
Oh and i practice interim fasting so I eat 3000 calories in 8 hours.0 -
Thank you for your advice, I love peanut butter (eating a spoonful as I type)..I will also ad protein shakes in my diet   :happy:0

I can't eat all my cals too. My trouble is I'm trying to gain weight i should be on 2690 a day and I'm managing around 1650. I never thought it would be so hard to consume my goal cals per day but it is. I exercise and don't eat junk food i try to cook fresh most of the time and eat lots of fruit I have been 10st 5ish since i was 18 3 decades later I'm still that but would like to go up a stone just to put a bit of bulk on. I'm particularly wary of my skinny arms and would like to wear t shirts more often been a male i feel a little puny0
