I wash my hands before I eat.

    Sometimes.

    That's for fancy folks.

The only problem with not eating clean is that you will go over your calories on three cookies, instead of three large portioned meals of the good stuff. Other than that, carbs are carbs, fat is fat, etc. etc.

Fast carbs (refined sugar) cause fluctuations in your blood sugar which will make you experience hunger sooner. If you don't think you would respond to the "call of the wild" then load up on ice-cream :) I know that I don't have the will to stay hungry, so oatmeal and brown rice it is, for me :) and potato chips and ice-cream in very limited amounts. Lost 30 lbs doing this, so... I would say it's working :)

    ^^this too...

how much you eat affects weight gain or loss
what you eat affects health and body composition

    As simple as it gets.
    ^I second this

That being said I've had gigantic indian meals where I am positive I've went over on cals and without changing my activity level or schedule I wake up significantly lighter the next day. The body is to complicated for me to figure out :P

Totally agreed. For many years I have eaten completely clean (whole foods--nothing with a label, only water... I eat mostly this way even now) and maintained weight (no gain but no loss of a lot of extra weight accrued due to a previously undiagnosed insulin disorder). All I had to do to lose was to reduce my portion sizes and voila--weight came off.
