Ideas for overnight oats!

I just flicked through several pages of recent posts & can't find the posts I've read before about overnight oatmeal. I made my first batch tonight & I'm excited for tomorrow! I used oats, almond milk, wild blackberry Greek yogurt, and diced strawberries. If I like it, I want to make this a routine breakfast. What else can I add/combine to make yummy variations?

Goji berries, cranberries and blueberries are a favorite around here! I've never made it with yogurt...? Do you add that in before you serve it? Or before you cook it? I missed that thread!
  • Apparently you don't cook it. The oats are supposed to absorb the moisture from the milk & yogurt. So I literally just put 2/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup almond milk, and a 142 gram liberte yogurt in a jar & mixed it. Then a added some diced strawberries & gave another stir.
I have no idea how it will turn out.

I have had this for breakfast for years. Yogurt and oatmeal...I have mixed this with berries or other fresh fruit and put it in the fridge for about an hour and it's good to go, you don't have to prep it the night before. I have never added any type of milk but I may give it a try.

I do plain greek yogurt, protein powder, frozen berries, flax seed and oats.

I've also made baked oatmeal that sits in the fridge overnight, and then you bake in the morning for 45 min @ 350.
    1 14 oz. can pumpkin
    2 scoops vanilla protein powder
    2 cups oats
    1 cup egg whites
    1 T. cinnamon
1/4 c. stevia in the raw
    2 apples,
    1/2 c. pecans
    2 c. unsweetened coconut milk

Pretty yummy, even my kids love it. :)

    This is my personal recipe:

1/2c oats (sometimes steel cut, sometimes regular oats.
1/2c greek vanilla yogurt, fat free
    1/2c skim milk
1/4c fruit of choice (lately, it's been strawberries)
and.... if I've been good, something sweet, like honey, or sugar free syrup.

I love my 2cup capacity mason jars. They're perfect for this! Plus, if I'm running behind, I can grab and go, and eat breakfast at work :)

    apple/cinnamon
    banana/blueberry
    banana/pumpkin/blueberry
    banana/pb
    choc/pb
    choc/cinnamon
choc/chilli pb (if you're not scared )

Also, you can use any sort of sf pudding mix so the options are endless.

    They're some of my favs.
  • I mix up about a months supply of oats in a big container with a bunch of nuts, dried fruit and cinnamon so that every night I just have to measure out some of my mix and add some soy milk and ground flaxseed.

I use about 4 cups of oats, a cup of nuts, about a third of a cup of sunflower seeds, and a cup of each dried fruit I want to use. Usually I have 3 or 4 different dried fruits, but if I'm feeling lazy I'll buy a big bag of mixed dried "fruit salad" and just add that instead of buying separate things.

I literally just made some for tomorrow. I like mine a bit thicker. It's all blueberry.

1/4 cup of steel cut extra thick oatmeal
1/4 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1/4 cup frozen wild blueberries
1/4 cup of blueberry greek yogurt

All together it's around 200 calories. I'll probably end up having it with a couple slices of turkey bacon and a couple cups of tea.

The other day I made one that was:

    1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1 tbsp of PB2
1/4 cup of greek yogurt with honey
1/4 cup of diced up banana

It was SO good. I loved it. I'll probably try something with chocolate peanut butter next. Like having a reese's cup for breakfast. (using PB2 chocolate and some unsweetened chocolate almond milk, vanilla greek yogurt perhaps?)

I just started making Fridge Oatmeal last week. Delishious!!!!! From the link, I've only made the mango almond one so far. I also add some shredded coconut but I keeps the sliced almonds out until I add them in the morning. So good!!
  • Someone may have mentioned this but I love adding dried berries, crushed nuts, sesame seeds and poppy seeds. Those taste great when mixed together. I also add hemp hearts, bran and cinnamon to my mixture. :smooched:
