How to figure out calories burned during exercise?

The elliptical says one number, MFP says a bigger number, I google and get a number somewhere in the middle. I try not to re eat my burned calories anyways but it would be nice to know what I did burn! Thanks!

If you aren't eating those cals anyway, it doesn't really matter. I'd pick the number in the middle if it was me.
All the numbers you'll find are an estimate - even an HRM gives you an estimate though it has more info to work with because it takes your heart rate into account.
I lost weight using (and eating!) MPF or Runkeeper estimates, so although people say they aren't accurate, they've worked fine for me.
(Remember that if you are using MFP to calculate your calories you are short changing your body if you don't eat those cals. If you are using another method that already includes exercise in its calculation, you are on the right track).0
