Running on treadmill

I started my couch to 5k tonight and when I would run, the conveyer belt seemed to catch and almost make me lose my balance.

Is this because I am too heavy to be running on a treadmill? My brother went with me to the gym a few days ago and started to run and this happened to him too and he only weights 190 lbs.

I was wondering if this happens to anyone else and if there was a way to fix the problem?

I read online somewhere that it may be the belts needing tightened?

I would definitely ask the manager to check it but also how fast are you going? Have you tried slowing it down?

I am just beginning so I was going 4 to 4.5 mph. I didn't think it was that fast.

Definitely not normal. Did you try any other machines?

Sometimes the start is a problem. I keep feet on two sides and let the belt start up slow (1mph).

Once the belt is going -- i get on the belt and slowly increase up to desired speed.

If you're still noticing a problem -- it's definitely the machine

This happens on our home treadmill when we need to lube the belt.

Sounds like your gym needs to do a little maintenance. How irritating! :grumble:
