HardCore Diet Vs. Portion Control+Excercise

I had been working out like a crazy person for the last 2.5 months..i first started with light cardio like jump roping and walks back in march.then started 30 Day Shred in April and completed it.Then i started p90x this may..i also controlled my calorie intake at 1200,but i was always just below that. I did lose some inches-my waist went from 33 to 29 and hips from 41 to 40 but that was that! my weight was remaining constant at nearly 146-147lbs for 2 months!!!! so i got frustrated as i thought it was because my diet wasn't good enough so I started the slow carb diet/4 hour body diet on 9th may and it hasn't even been a week and i lost 1.6lbs already! i exercised during the first 3 days of the diet, but after that i had somethings going on that was getting in the way of working out and even then i am losing weight!!!

I read somewhere that when on doing the Slow Carb Diet,a medium amount of exercise is only required and that doing "heavy" lifting or P90X can actually hinder the weight-loss process..

Is this true?!
Should i continue with the diet AND the exercise or go with the diet only till i reach like 130lbs,then workout more to tone AND lose further weight?!

So long as you listen to your body, you can exercise heavily on the slow carb diet. The important thing to remember is that you will need to eat more, since you are exercising heavily. Tracking your caloric intake here on MFP and eating back your exercise calories is a fine way to do that. The anti-exercise thing is really for those who do not track their calories and might under or over eat with varied exercise.

Eating slow carb means that you often need to eat a LOT of food, since much of it has a low caloric density. Enjoy having plates piled high with meat and veggies!

I would run away from ANY diet that tells you to stay away from weights. Why not just count your calories? What are your plans when you STOP "dieting"? I am eating 2300-2500 calories a day and losing weight and inches. Portion control is the key.

You're eating less than 1200 calories and doing P90X? That's a recipe for disaster.

I say listen to your body, but I will say this about P90X and other Heavy work out programs you have to EAT. Really!!!

Back in Feb I hired a personal trainer (okay I had a single consult) and he told me that most women mess up the exercise and eating balance by eating too few calories. HE told me he wanted me to work out no more than 30 minutes a day in my "Fat burning" range as far as Heart rate goes, with only light lifting and NO cardio. That amounted to eating 1300 calories a day.

He did tell me if I wanted total body fitness and weight loss we'd have to jack up my calories to about 1800 calories a day, and be very careful not to workout anaerobically, that means watching where my heart rate goes.

You know what I have learned both method works as long as you are eating right and working out "right" for your needs. I am doing P90X right now and I eat back all of my calories burned during working out and I have lost as much as I did when I was eating low calories and barely burning execess calories.

The take home for me is I now have the knowledge to lose weight or maintain my weight no matter what fitness program I embark.

If your measurements are decreasing why do you care what the scale reads? Assuming you're losing weight to look good and be healthy, if you're eating right and exercising then decreasing measurements will generally take care of the 'looking good' part of the equation. People don't say 'DAMN, that chick weighs 112.2367 lbs!!! I want a piece of that!'
