Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance. We're overdue for another. Every 40 years there's a musical Renaissance and we haven't had one since the 60's and 70's - that's why people are looking back to those songs. It was a revival of creativity and vision. Why only Florence...you would know those answers.
Why Florence? Because Lorenzo "Il Magnifico" was a great patron of the arts. He gathered into his court and supported most of the talented artists and thinkers of the day. When you put creative thinkers in close contact and finance their works, you'll have an explosion of wonderful things. Then, the other powerful and rich men wanted the same--a chain reaction.
The architecture is beyond compare and I see traces on modern buildings. The arches, vaulting and concrete. It's supernatural but it's not being duplicated on the face of the planet, today. "Greeks favored marble, the Romans invented concrete, and they relied on this key building material in much of their architecture. Romans also emphasized circular forms and made extensive use of the arch, vault, and dome in their building projects, unlike the structure of Greek buildings."
In a few years, you won't be able to find a carpenter, a plumber, an electrician, a lineman, a mechanic or a journeyman craftsman to fix anything. My kinfolks talk about it constantly. No one wants a career like that. Ranchers and farmers are disappearing, too.
If you come to my house for dinner and play with your smart phone, thumbs moving a million miles a minute, I will slide the tablecloth out from underneath the dishes then throw all of it out into the backyard.

@Cat0703a Erwin has a new one and they left him a lil present. Then there's a flyby in the woods. It's darling. I'll save it for next Saturday night. I've decided I don't really want to know if it's CGI. I can't let anyone ruin this for me.
