I know this is the age old question, but I am still perplexed. I am 5'3" tall (short), 52 years old. I have been at 1300 base calories (not including exercise), have been pretty darn consistent (with the exception of a few days). I noticed that most people are eating more calories than I am. I am stuck. Have not lost (gained 2-3 as a matter of fact)for several weeks. Help! Help! I originally lost 28 pounds since January 1st.

I wouldn't go up too much unless you also increase the amount or intensity of exercise. Sadly, it's just harder to lose when you are older. And at 5'3" and age 52 you aren't going to need as many calories as someone younger and taller.

If it were me, I'd increase the intensity of my workouts to earn more, and then eat the extra that I earned.
  • Calories UP...Here's why... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less Im 5ft 3in tall. I eat 2000 calories per day now. That's the only thing that started my weight to moving again was upping the calories.
