    I've only ever made grilled cheese with bread, a little butter, and a slice of american cheese. Add some tomato soup and I'm good to go.

    Really crusty french bread with lots of holes - like Pan et Cie
    Good swiss cheese - Gruyere, for example
    A ripe pear sliced to fit the sandwich - a bosc is good
    grill it in the animal or vegetable fat of your choice

    So, this thread totally made me jones for a grilled cheese. So last night, I made one. Trader Joe's Tuscan Pane with Brie. It was money. :love:

    I'm stuck at work now at totally want one.

    I've done raisin bread, apricot jam, turkey and brie grilled. It is amazing

    Brie & strawberry jam is awesomeness
