I tried to download an app that used GPS to track distance, but I couldn't get it to work. What apps are good?

I use endomondo, it does crap out if it's a bad gps day. If I'm running not a big deal i can resume it easily, but if I'm biking, I don't hear that it's stopped and can miss half my workout. luckily I have a bike computer to make up for it. all in all it's not bad 4 a free app

    Strava or runkeeper :-)

    Enjoy!

Runkeeper isn't bad, but if you want something much more accurate then have a look at a Garmin watch with GPS built in.
I find that Runkeeper loses the GPS signal pretty regularly so isn't that great. My Garmin never does.
BUT, you pay a lot for the added functionality - Runkeeper is free (or cheap, can't remember which) and the Garmin costs nearly $400 (though if you're in the US it's proabably cheaper than that).

I recommend you to use Cardio Trainer. It uses both the GPS and Pedometer.
The distance covered, time taken, speed, number of stops you made during your coarse of time all of them will be recorded.

But you have to measure your stride length correctly, if you want to you use pedometer alone.
This is an very good app.

I use endomundo and have not had any issues {exterior use only} and my wife uses MyRunKeeper. Both are free apps and as long as you are in a location to get a GPS satalite signal no issues, I have used Endo to track a stair climb without satalite connection.

Endomondo is great. I like the way that it analyses your route afterwards and gives you split times and personal bests for various distances. It synchronises with the website where it gives you additional information that you do not get with the free app. Personally I have not had any real problems with the GPS signal.

Make sure you stop the app at the end of your run though. I once got in my car and drove home after a cross country run. The times I achieved on the drive home were amazing! Had to delete the whole workout from history though to avoid it messing up the stats.

Also, please dont get me wrong. I DO love endomondo. The monthly tracking, the challenges, the way it tells you how many burgers you've burned is awesome. Lots of great features. Plus some of the challenges offer prizes:) easy to downoad and try:)

And good advice on remembering to stop the ap. I did that once too..lol
