Are you trying to lose weight or gain weight? Kinda confused by your ultra low calorie intake0

Trying to lose. I gained a lot of weight after losing a significant amount really fast, so my metabolism is really slow an most of the weight is fat. I'm trying to find some middle ground.0

Hi you can add me
I’m in serious need for motivational support.... getting discouraged..... I have better days, but it’s starting to bum me out ....my lbs go down slow.......0 -
You've set a daily calorie goal of 500...I'm not sure many folks here are going to support that sort of effort. I wish you the best, but something doesn't seem right here, and I'm sure you're going to get a TON of advice from some very well-meaning folks.0

^What he said. Please reconsider your daily goal. As you hang around the MFP forums you'll become familiar with the concept of "eat more to weigh less" and it is completely true! Do yourself a favor. Go up the "tools" section of this site, then find your BMR. Set that number as your goal, and try to stick within 100-200 calories of it either way, every day. I promise you will get results this way.
If you can't bring yourself to eat more than 500 calories a day, please seek counseling. I am not saying that to be rude. It is a genuine concern. Good luck on your journey.0 -
I'll support anyone in return for support. I've lost more weight than people weigh (188lbs); but I still have a good 80 or so to go before I'd be happy and 120 to reach what is ideal.
Ticking me off that I'm eating under my calories and exercising, lifting and I am at a plateau that is disconcerting.0 -
After my Ed I have tried eating around that number, but I always end up bingeing (really really big binges) and gaining more weight. Like I said, my metabolism is really slow at the moment because of restricting/bingeing cycle. If I ate 1200 net calories a day, I would likely gain weight or binge0

You really should stop trying to track calories immediately, and visit a counsellor about this. I am certainly not a doctor but common sense and experience suggests you have a pretty serious eating disorder. I have gone through binging myself, not to mention minor bulimia. If you feel you are eating too much at 1200 calories a day this is very warped thinking.
Fix your mind before you worry about your body too much. If that pic of you is up to date, you have extremely low body fat already! I don't want to seem like I am trying to diagnose but it probably seems to most of us here that you have a body complex of some sort.
Everyone is different, but I binged like crazy while losing 100 lbs. They were controlled binges, but it can actually be good for weight loss if you plan it properly. You don't need to have an all or nothing attitude about food necessarily. Having a few meals or even a day a week to allow "binging" can sometimes work. It did for me for a year.
One more suggestion: Start lifting weights. If you feel sloppy from losing weight fast this is the best way to gain some strength and body shape.0 -
I really appreciate your concern. I haven't ever gotten any professional help with this for financial/personal reasons, but I've been trying so many different ways to solve it and nothing is working. I wish I could lift but I'm a dancer and I'm discouraged from lifting unfortunately that picture is not recent, it is about a year and 15 pounds ago.
My binges are far from controlled, and often last for three or four days, which is why I gain weight from them. The weird thing is they're usually relatively healthy foods, but my metabolism sucks so bad that I gain weight anyways.0 -
Have you considered kicking up the aerobic exercise to offset your slow metabolism? It's also not a bad idea to give yourself one day a week to whatever you like - it helps to trick the body.
Feel free to friend me if you'd like continued support!0 -
Im sure the reason why your metabolism is so slow is because of your low caloric intake. Your body thinks that is is starving and has slowed down your metabolism to hold on for dear life to whatever you will give it. Which is probably why when you binge you gain so much weight, your body is in self preservation mode. i guarantee you if you eat healthy for a while, you may put on weight but once your body knows its safe from starvation, your metabolism will increase and you will start shedding weight with a continued healthy diet (1200 + cals) and exercise regimen. Good luck!!!0
