A recent study on rats showed that two groups consuming the same diet would have very different health results depending whether or not they fasted between meals.

"After 100 days, the mice who ate fatty food frequently throughout the day gained weight and developed high cholesterol, high blood glucose, liver damage and diminished motor control, while the mice in the time-restricted feeding group weighed 28 percent less and showed no adverse health effects despite consuming the same amount of calories from the same fatty food."

I have no idea if this applies to humans at all, and the researches urged people not to jump to conclusions, but I thought it was interesting, and it might indicate that eating frequent small meals is actually bad for you. Hopefully human trials will show if this works with people.
