I hate when I get to the point of wanting to regress to my old habits.. snacking on every little thing. I get discouraged when i get just about through a week and I know there wont be a loss.. eventhough I told myself to expect it since I lost 3 lbs the week prior. At first I found this site exciting, couldnt walk away from it, I still enjoy it , but the thrill of the loss is fading and I dont want to quit. I always quit. I have lost over 20 lbs already and not sure why I am feeling this way. It is a tough weekend for the journey, its my bday and I told the hubby i didnt want a "fat *kitten*" bday cake and he and the kids made one anyways.... going to have to eat one piece so i dont hurt anyones feelings... and then another big bday celebration tomorrow........please let this weekend end soon. I need to refocus and find motivation...

    Happy Birthday!!

I say, enjoy your weekend, eat the cake your family made, and then get back on track on Monday!

I think one of the biggest reasons why people "quit" dieting is because they don't ever allow themselves a break. If you feel like you can't have cake on your own birthday, you will become too discouraged (which it sounds like you are). MFP keeps you accountable - you are aware that you're slacking, but you have a desire to keep going. You can do it!!!!!!!

    Just my two cents :)

Happy Birthday. You can do this. Keep your chin up and stay positive. Have 1 slice of cake and then get back on track or have a half of piece of cake with family, then another half piece at the other birthday celebration. It's not going to hurt to have 1 piece of cake, just get back on track as soon as you can. Keep smiling you CAN do this. Add me as a friend if you want.
  • Hang in there. It's okay to have an off day, or couple of days - you only fail if you let yourself continue along that path. Enjoy your birthday with a plan to get back on track the next day. Only you are in control of yourself, think about why you are doing this and show yourself you can do it.

Happy birthday!!! And believe me, one piece of cake isn't going to kill you. Besides, considering it's your birthday, forget about weight loss and enjoy your special day. Snack on every little thing because you have something to celebrate and deserve to let go for that day. Then get back on track tomorrow. Set yourself some little goals that build up to your bigger goals. Log even when you don't want to, because at least then you know you don't want to log badly again and everyone can provide constructive criticism. And usually the losses level out as you get further into your weight. I lost 11lbs in one week when I first started and now they have leveled to about 1-2lb a week, like what's considered normal, so the same will happen to you depending on your level of seriousness. :)

And look back on how proud you felt when you saw the amount you'd lost for the very first time. Imagine how much better you'd feel if you lost another 5lbs? Or 10lbs. Or 20lbs!!! No doubt it'd feel incredible and you, and everyone on MFP, would be so proud and envious of your commitment and dedication. :D Keep at it, don't be discouraged!!! Good luck. :)

1st congrads on the weight loss.

2nd dont get discouraged. Stick with it. Treat yourself to a new DVD or something else health wise you have been wanting. Find a new challenge on here to join. Keep yourself motivated. Google motivating quotes images find one that talks to you print it out and post it where you will see it everyday. When that one no longer speaks to you as strongly go find another. Dig deep find your enter Diva that is dying to come out and hold on tight. Tell yourself you WILL make it. May take you longer then you want but you WILL let the enter you shine out for everyone to see.

Hang in there. We all have these days.

You've already lost 20 pounds, you're doing great!! Just have a small piece of cake for your birthday it won't hurt you as long as you don't keep eating it, then take a walk. Hang in there and don't give up! We all get in those down modes but you are doing it and can continue to do it!!

If your family knows you are on this journey and are supportive, they will not mind or be hurt if you just took 1 bite of the cake or not eat it at all. What's a birthday without a cake, right? My husband and I just took our now 4 y/o back to Denver to celebrate his birthday with his grandparents. I took one bite of his cake. His actual birthday was not until a few days after we got back home, so we gave him another cake for the actual birthday. Again, I took just 1 bite.

1 or even 2 bites/slices of cake does not take away from all the weight you've already lost. Don't be so hard on yourself and just enjoy the day.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
