cooking oil

How do you go about counting the oil used for cooking? Do you measure out a tablespoon before you add it to the pan? I have been estimating a tablespoon here or there, but it makes such a difference in the calorie count. I don't want to be fooling myself about how much I am eating.
I eat a lot of veggies, but I don't really like them steamed. I have sworn off non-stick pans, so it takes a certain amount of oil to cook in cast-iron. I think that it is healthy to eat good fats as long as I can keep my total calories down. I don't eat any processed food, but I love the crispy veggies on brown rice with a little braggs...MMMM!
Is there anyone else out there that eats like this???

I just mesure out the amount of olive oil I use and log it as part of my meal.

Sometimes it's difficult, but I try to measure what I use before and then what's left over after, subtracting the after from the before and viola!

i was thinking that but i tend notice the addition of water to the mixture. but hey i go with one tablespoon added to the pan then one table spoon added to the calorie chart. that way im always sure.

i thought about this with pre packed meals. half the time all the sauce that contains the most calories aare left at the bottom of the packet and never eaten. it all adds up lol!

I measure the oil before hand, and log it in. Sometimes I only use a tablespoon to cook for four and I like to think that I only really ate 1/4 of that Tablespoon. Would I be fooling myself?

I don't own a non-stick pan. Up until the other day, I never knew how well cooking spray actually works in them. Actually, never knew you could even use it in them. LOL The cooking spray has actually been working better than the other three oils I use (peanut, olive and veg). I'm kinda rough on my pans- well more-so the family is. They have yet to learn...heat the pan, then add oil, then let the oil get hot, then cook. My mother would probably curse me out if she saw them LOL She originally seasoned them for me.

I don't like processed foods either, but this cooking spray is saving me loads of cals!

Yep. The bottle tells you how many calories are in a tablespoon. i love using olive or veggie oil. I've used coconut oil too, but prefer olive because its better for you.
