From Bride to Bridesmaid...from Life to Life Changed

On September 17th of 2011, I got married to the most amazing man in the world! I couldn't be happier to have him in my life. My wedding day was beautiful. My one regret...me. At about 200lbs, I put on my size 20 wedding dress...and although I felt pretty and had an amazing time...I know I was hurting. Wishing the looked the way I wanted and felt the way I wanted on that day. I was exhausted early in the day and it was hard to move around in the dress. Even dancing with family and friends took it's tole on me. At the end of the night, even though I changed into fast flats early on in the night...my feet were so swollen and painful.
Don't get me wrong, I worked through it all and will always remember my wedding day as a day of love. But looking back at the photos, I occasionally remember the pain, shortness of breath and fatigue.
After our wedding, my hubby's sister got engaged and asked both he and I to be in the wedding. I planned to lose weight before buying my bridesmaid dress but he bride chose one that was being discontinued. So almost 10 months away from the wedding, we had to purchase our dresses. Luckily, I had already started into my weight loss and was able to fit into an 18 (with a breath and a prayer). So I did what I told all of my bridesmaids not to do...I got a size smaller for motivation.
We are now 4 months away from the wedding and I am only down about 15 total. While I fit into a 16 in jeans, I still haven't been able to zip the dress...I can get it clasped though...which made me feel good (a couple months ago).
I've read some success stories and while I am inspired by them...I am also jealous. I know that their results didn't come from sitting on the couch but from effort and struggle. I have slacked for the last few months and even when I went to the gym on a regular basis I didn't put in 100% and I have no one to blame but myself.
Here is what I need from you all. I need accountability! I need to be able to come on here and post progress, get tips and motivation and reprimands when needed. I need to fit into that dress.
The Plan:
Eat healthier - duh....but seriously. My hubby is a very picky eater and we've both been trying new things but I need to commit to not eating out, watching portion size, keeping cravings in control and drinking more water on a regular basis.
Work out - also duh....go the gym - even if I have to go by myself, bike with my hubby (nothing would make him happier), get to the point where I enjoy running...I'd love to enter and finish my first 5k this year (before or after the wedding).
De-stress - as a person with two jobs plus a just starting our own business and being involved in a couple charity events, I am a very busy girl...but I need to focus on what is important and leave everything else in the mud.
Well, that is it for now...please leave any comments or advice you think would help.
Thanks.

Get a trainer. It's a better way of accountability and if the trainer is good, then there shouldn't be any reason (other than not following a calorie deficit plan on your own) you don't fit into that dress.

hey you can definitely do it. 4 months is plenty of time to lose 2-3 sizes if you're dedicated. i've lost 2 sizes from the beginning of the year and now i'm challenging myself to lose another 2 by the end of the summer.
your plan sounds like a good one. you dont have to go crazy low on your calories. for exercise, definitely add in weight training and dont be afraid to lift heavier weights. what i'm finding is that even though i might not be losing a lot on the scale, there are huge changes in my measurements
good luck!0 -
Log everything that you eat/drink meticulously - you may be surprised at the extra un-needed 100 calories
Good luck girl, you can do it and who knows, the dress may even end up being too big for you :drinker:0
