Having a play, lazy Sunday morning. http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/
Take a 200 lb 40 yr old female 5'-4" tall. RMR estimated as 1564, TDEE with lightly active settings 2503 cals/day = baseline diet.

Compare two changes on day 5 -
1. Food intake reduced by 1000 cals/day to 1503.
2. Food intake Increased 50 cals/day to 2553 and 1 hour of medium running added (~1000 cals)

Calorie deficit Day 5 : 1. 865 (immediate TDEE drop in response to less food) 2. 1001.8
Day 360: 1. 348.6 2. 270.8

Day 360 results :

1. Weight 141.5 lbs, 48.6 lbs fat, 92.9 lbs FFM 34.3 %fat 24.3 BMI, TDEE 1852 with calorie reduction

2. Weight 139.4 lbs, 44.9 lbs fat, 94.5 lbs FFM, 32.2% fat, 23.9 BMI. TDEE 2820 with exercise

Range of accuracy - for 141.5 lbs predicted weight the range given is 122 - 160 lbs. 50% calories from carbs.

Neither case stalled, exercise case was closer to stalling at end with smaller deficit.
