I am going to trader joe's for the first time this weekend.... i know i should have gone along time ago. If anyone has any good stuff they buy there let me know... i have a feeling i might be a little overwhelmed when i get there. I want to try lots of new things.

I live near one and do all my shopping there. They have the most affordable organic food that I have found, but you have to watch out for their excess packaging. I get produce elsewhere. I recommend their yummy spreads- there is an red pepper spread in the dry foods section that is not oil based and brings a lot of flavor to everything.

I used to work across the street from one when I lived in Virginia....................moved back to Southern Illinois where I grew up and no Trader Joe's..........

But, I have a Neighborhood Coop where I get the best organic fruits and veggies that are grown locally and farm raised beef, pork and chicken...........

I can get nitrate free bacon from the Coop just as I did from Trader Joe's.

I love the low-sodium minestrone soup, which only has 200 calories for the whole can. They also have some great frozen tilapia, sweet potatoe fries, and a delicious marinara sauce that is pretty low on sugar if my memory serves me well. The vaccum sealed frozen swordfish is also great.

I love their lowfat salads for lunch. The greek only has 140 calories including dressing.

They also offer a chinese chicken and a southwest with about 300 calories each.

Much better than a lean cuisine for lunch.

Check out their simmer sauces. They use to carry a mojito one that was terrific.

Today i bought marinated mozzerella balls and organic cherry tomatoes for an appitizer i'm making tonite.

Oh, where do I begin??

I am constantly talking about TJ's!

    Let's see...some staples I get!
    Chipotle Pepper Hummus
Any of the muffins (The little blueberry/bran are great and super moist)
Cinnamon crumpets (wonderful toasted with a little peanut butter)
Valencia Peanut Butter with Flax Seeds
    TJ's pop chips
TJ's Sour Cream and Onion Rice Crisps
The already popped kettle corn (in the chips aisle)
    TJ's Organic Raisin Bran Crunch

    Frozen:
    Corn and black bean enchiladas
    Roasted Veggie Enchiladas
Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins (come in a big bag..really good and versatile...2 for 150 cals...I use them for buffalo tenders or sometimes put a gravy on them for a "country fried chicken" flavor..delish!)
    The Spearian Risotto
    Mushroom Risotto
    Gnocchi Sorrentina

Any of the frozen veggies are great to have...but I love the harvest hodgepodge

The Frozen Crinkle Cut Potato Wedges

    Pizzas are great

The TJ's greek yogurt is good (I like the honey and pomegranate ones)

Really, I have yet to try something bad. The "simmer sauces" are good. Just add chicken...and the soups, pasta sauces, pasta, rices..etc.

Just go up and down the aisles and check it all out!

Oh and the frozen lime popsicle things are SOO good right now..very refreshing!

Hmm, let's see. It's always my first stop when grocery shopping.....

Frozen - harvest hodgepodge, brown rice (or jasmine if they are out), turkey meatballs, salmon patties

Breads - cinnamon crumpets, garlic naan (high in calories, but make a great little pizza), soft whole wheat bread

Canned - chunky spiced apples, Bruschetta topping

Cooler section - any of the hummus, Laughing Cow cheese

That's what I can think of right now ... LOVE TRADER JOE'S! :) Enjoy!
