Feeling poorly/chest pain after exercise

Hi guys. I've not had the best few days with food, and have exceeded my calorie goal three times this week - twice only by 100 or so, and one day by 900 cals. :embarassed: I'm currently 203lbs and aiming at a loss of 1lb per week.

But I had plenty of opportunities over this weekend to get some cardio in and claw those cals back - I was due to run today (I'm doing C25k), but as I had knee pain when I ran last on Thurs, I decided to put the next session off until Tues. So yesterday I did a good 5k brisk walk, and another brisk 3k today (the dog is enjoying herself), followed by a 13k bike ride alone.

However, now I feel pretty peaky.

On the last 5k of my bike ride I started getting a pain in my chest - on the left, running around my ribs to my back, and it hurts to breathe in. There is some pain between my shoulder blades too. The pain eases if I lay flat.

I haven't felt faint, or dizzy or anything, but I do feel a bit queasy and have had some stomach cramps since coming home. So, why am I feeling so rubbish instead of energised? Did I just over-do it??

It did take a feat of strength to wrestle my bike out of the shed from beneath my husbands, so there is a chance I've simply tweaked an intercostal............. :frown:

Go to the ER NOW!!!!! As a clinical exercise specialist, my job with anyone who is having chest pain while exercising is to hook them up to an EKG and make sure they aren't having a heart attack. It is not uncommon for people to have angina (chest pain) symptoms when exercising because of underlying heart issues that don't show up without exercise. So, go your butt to the hospital now and make sure you aren't having heart problems!!!!!

I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get it checked out NOW. Chest pain of that magnitude is not normal. Please......get yourself checked. And let us know how you are. :flowerforyou:

Edited to add: when my dad had a major heart attack he did not have the usual symptoms...he just felt sick and was throwing up....but he was having a major heart attack. Not everyone is the same. He thought it was the 'flu. He ended up with a triple bypass and now has a pacemaker.

Wow.....its nice of you both to show such concern. I was just thinking that I'd pushed my poor unfit body a little too hard in its current woeful condition, and it was protesting!

I'm now feeling much better....I've had plenty to drink and a rest, and now I'm a bit stiff after the workout I'm sure I am feeling muscular pain. It only hurts when I move, not when sitting still any more!

Even so, I'll keep a close eye on it and if at any time I feel properly unwell, I'll call up the emergency doctor.

    Thanks again for responding!
