measuring "cups" in oz or grams

ok i have a question and i cant seam to find the answer in fourms but if a cup is 8 oz dose that mean you can weigh things like fruits and veg instead or craming them into a cup? or do they want the left over space in it to calculate?

You should only use cups for liquids. Dry ingredients should be weighed to get the proper amount. Almost all items in the database have the grams/ounces as well as the "cup" measurements.
I found out quickly that I could jam about 3/4 cup of shredded cheese into a 1/4 cup measure cup. Even though I got it in there doesn't mean it was still one serving. Now I weigh everything.0 -
Solids can compress, so always go with weights, not volume for solids0

I use measuring cups for every kind of food except meat. Just use good judgement.0

Almost everything has the measurements in grams. You can either remember that 1 oz is about 28 grams, or you can use an online conversion calculator.0
