Hey folks,
I'm curious, what is the unit of measurement that MFP uses for iron? Is it mg? Also, how does it select your intake goal? I've been making an effort to increase my iron intake over the past few months and I want to have realistic and accurate goals. I'm a 26 year old woman for reference.
Thanks!

It goes by percentage since that's how nutrition labels have it. So 100% is the daily recommended intake. I try to go for 200-300% since I have iron issues. If I actually took as much as the dr prescribed, I'd be even higher than that.

Edit: I'm a 25 year old woman and I found out I had low iron because of dizziness and hair loss. It wasn't even low enough to be classified as anemic, just on the bottom end of the range.

Edit 2: I just calculated it. If I just took what the doctor prescribed and didn't add any other iron to my diet, I'd be taking 722% minimum. But only for a few more months anyway. Shoot for not being under the 100% with iron since you are a woman in reproductive years, and if you have any questions about your specific needs, have your doctor check your levels.
