20 pounds and 12 inches that is fantastic!!! Way to go. Isn't it nice to feel and see the changes? About time to go shopping. Keep up the great work.
    What is your ultimate goal?

    Jennier :0)~

Thank you! I want to loose a total of 80 pounds. But after loosing the first 20, the next 60 don't seem that far off. I really do need to go shopping, but I'm planning some events that's keeping the fundage a bit tight. BUT! It will be awesome to go shopping at an even smaller size for my big trip in October!

12 inches I missed that!!! WHOA that is awesome!!!

My clothes are sagging and look real funny on me now, but i am trying to hard to save up for when I can get the cute "small" clothes myseld:bigsmile:

I litterally had people waving icecream in my face this week so I feel your pain! I just keep telling myself that in 50 more pounds, I'll be the one laughing!

That is a great way to look at it. Just think of all those calories that they are eating. YUK!!!

    Zibbity,
What are you putting in your salad? You say that it is boring. Try to spice it up with some chicken or tuna. I have found a great salad dressing. It is from Kraft lite raspberry vinaigerrete. I did not really think that I would like it, but I absolutely love it. I know it is not fun to have a boring salad. Just experiment and see what fun stuff you can put in it.

WOWZERS! Are you talking about the Kraft lite with olive oil raspberry vinaigrette?!?! That's my favorite! i've never been a huge fan of creamy dressings. they always seem to weigh the salad down.

I recently read a post about this--try looking into a thrift shop for a few pieces of "in-between" clothes to keep you going until you hit your goal. Or you could look for a seamstress or tailor who can take in what you're wearing now for less than a new set of duds (I'm not sure how much a good seamstress or tailor costs, but if you have some rather spendy clothing, it may be cheaper to alter it than to buy new).

Hope this helps and congratulations on losing the pounds & inches!

    Cheers! :drinker:

I understand where you are coming from b/c I've experienced it too. I only had a total of about 40 pounds to lose which is significant, but I carry my weight well so I don't look that overweight. I've made posts and only had one or two people comment about my small successes.

However...I don't really feel bad about it. I understand that the big differences are so much more noticable. Plus, to work really hard over a long period of time to be able to lose a huge amount of weight is really commendable.

I guess this right here is what I've been missing out on. Everyone is being super nice and I knew that this was the type of community this was. Maybe I just need to post more and not worry about it if anyone says anything or not. The whole thing is so freakin hard.

Fridays at work are the worst because that's when everyone I know decides to get hamburgers and chicken wings and pizza, meanwhile i've got my boring ol salad. I was gonna post about that here, but figured it wouldn't matter.

I've got to lose that mindset. Thank you for everyone that has commented. Its making me feel loads better. I knew it just had to be me thinking this way.

From everything that I've seen, everyone is super sweet and very encouraging and supportive. I've posted a few things (ok, more than just a few  ) and sometimes I'll have great responses and sometimes I'll get just a few. I've noticed a lot of people respond to the before & after pics that others post, but I think that because many people are visual people that the pictures help motivate them to keep going. So imho people post on it for the extra motivation boost for themselves, not neccisarily for the person who posted the pics.

The more you post, the more you'll get encouragement and praise and that extra push that we look for sometimes. I don't know if you have already but join a little group like one of the color groups, or June starters, or even things that you are into (I've seen woggers, runners, preggos, people over 40, quitting smoking, etc). I am in the red group, June starters, and a quit smoking group and find a lot of my motivation, support, & encouragement in those groups. Heck, I've gotten more support, praise and encouragement from quitting smoking here on MFP than I have from family & friends!

Great job on your 20 pound loss... its a great acheivement! You should feel amazing about that, and it sounds like you are determined to get to your goal... I think you should share that with family, friends, co-workers. The more support and accountability you have, the less likely you will fail. I know what you mean about work temptations... I have a co-worker that eats out everyday for lunch, and he always wants me to go with and join him. Too many days I've given in to the temptation and had fast food instead of the lunch I brought (taco bell always sounds better than a lame turkey sandwich) But I push myself hard on my workouts on those days that I am bad and it seems to even out a little.

Keep up the good work... you can acheive your goals! :flowerforyou: :drinker:

For real. I like that oily taste its got. Kinda seared on top. Has great texture. My wife hates raw fish and she's Japanese. Something wrong with that.

OMG how do you live with yourself? Hehe just kidding. Unagi is great ... just can't have too much with all that teriaki that normally goes on top.

As for the wifey ... I think she was born in the wrong country, hehe. Though what we call sushi is actually a dessert in Japan. I wonder what they think of us eating it as a main course, hehe.

Well not having fresh seafood kinda sucks, but we got more beef and pork and bbq, then those pesky east & west coasters.

Yeah my wife and I kinda joke that in former-lives (by the way, we aren't buddhist) she was an American and I was samurai killed in battle. Real romantic.

I've sort of noticed a trend on MFP that isn't settling very well with me.

Loosing weight is hard. All of us here are very aware of this. But it seems like we only notice, comment on, or give praise to people who have lost significant amounts of weight. Not that encouraging each other is a bad thing. It certainly is an awesome thing, and I love that I have a place to go for that. I love seeing huge success with members here. Its super encouraging! Sheesh! I can only imagine how tough and dedicated you have to be to get that far. I see myself getting there....one day.

But what about those out there who are just getting started? Those who have only lost a few pounds, or get excited when someone notices their weight loss for the first time? I feel the beginning of the journey is the toughest. Turning bad habits into good ones, starting new routines and sticking to them, all of that jazz.

I've noticed that when people post about small things like fitting into a pair of old "skinny" jeans, resisting food temptation, or just happy to know that what they are doing is finally working, it seems like its not as much of a celebration as before or after pictures are. Any and all feats of weight loss should be encouraged. no matter how big or small. Encouragement is a big part in not falling off the wagon in this game, and for some of us, this site is where we get most of our encouragement. For me at least.

I dunno. I guess I'm just saying, we are all trying to reach goals here and any sort of motivation, even in the smallest of forms for the simplest of things can be more encouraging that you know. We've gotta support and be there for each other, no matter how far along the path we happen to be. I guess I've just been observing and thinking about that lately.

Good luck to everyone, and keep up the great work!!!

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: It helped me a lot to join a group. I am really connected to the people in the groups I joined and we cheer about new eating habits, new insights, new smaller pants, one pound weight loss, and a ton of other stuff. I'd invite you to join my groups but one is a seniors group and the other is women 50+  There are lots of groups on the "Motivation and Support" board and I think some of the posters on this thread have suggested a group.

I love being connected to people on MFP. No one in my real life wants to hear about calories eaten and calories burned or how I just say no to birthday cake but my MFP friends "listen" to every word I say and respond with support and encouragement.

I hope you'll find a group that gives you the encouragement and support that will help you on this journey.

This is so true! In fact most of the time they're trying to get you to eat more.

    Lost my quotes!
