Anyone own a Kia?

I am looking to get a new car and spotted a 2012 Kia Optima, now the 2012's are a little out of my price range but I found a nice 2011 with low miles and all the features I want. I am just curios what others have to say about them? Everyone keeps telling me to go for the Chevy Cruize but I am just not as "attracted" the Cruize as I am the Optima. I currently own a Chevy Cobalt and I want to upgrade to larger 4 door car, with bells and whistles, a sunroof, and since I commute up to 50 miles a day....must be good on gas. The Optima seems to meet these needs.

I don't have one but we considered it when we were looking for a new car. My husband did most of the research but liked what he saw.

Kias are not known to be great cars over the long haul. They wear out pretty quick.

I would highly recommend a used Honda or Toyota, honestly. They'll go for 400,000 miles easy and you can find one for a decent price probably with all the features you want.

I have a 2007 Kia Sedona and I have owned it since July 2007 and it has roughly 90,000 miles on it. I have not had any mechanical issues with it almost 5 years. Kias have gotten a bad rap because when they first came out they were cheaply made but they have greatly improved their vehicles in the last 10 years. I love my Kia and you can't beat their warranty program.

I had a Kia and I traded it for a Honda and I regret that decision immensely! Kia is now outranking Honda in consumer reports that I am reading. Wish I could get my Kia back!

I have a 2007 Kia Spectra! Her name is Kiki. :)

I really like my car, no mechanical issues (just drive inflicted...ahem)

Honestly, Kia's get a bad rep for whatever reasons, but my car is really nice and gets amazing gas mileage!

I had a Kia for about 5 yrs. They are NOT good cars at all. I now own a Chevy HHR.
I agree, Honda's are very good cars, I've know Honda owners to keep their car's for many years.

I love my Kia! I have had it 4 years and it never gives me any problems. I would buy another one no doubt about it. :)

I have a 2008 Kia Optima. I love it, it's slick looking without being too sporty and has a ton of trunk/passenger space.

We have a KIA Sportage. Been super happy with the KIA brand. We will look at a larger KIA next time around, but this met our needs. The dealership we have is excellent and bends over backwards for us, though we've not needed it.

I love my kia. I have a kia spectra 08. I've had it for about 3 years now and I've had no problems with it. I don't remember how many miles it has on it now, maybe 60k - 70k. I definitely recommend it. I also think it's a cute car :)

i just bought the sorrento and i love it...i did a ton of reasearch and test driving before i picked the kia. they were getting a bad rap when they first came out, but now, they are surpassing the honda/toyotas - and, i got a lot of bells and whistles for the price, and like you, i drive about 55 miles round trip to work!

Subaru owners are fiercely loyal to them. They're worth checking out.

I haven't had one, but I used to sell them. The Optima and other upper level models are great. Obviously they got a bad rap for the cheaply made economy cars they used to make...but pretty much every manufacturer makes a crappy economy model! My old coworked has a 2011 Optima and loves it.

I personally have a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagon and I adore it. Hasn't had any mechanical issues and has pretty good gas mileage for a bigger car!

Most modern cars will be good but they can only be as good as much as you look after them!

I have a 2012 Kia Optima. It's not a bad car for the $$. The gas milage is over estimated by Kia and I have had an issue with the Wastegate on the Turbo (a known common issue). But it is very comfortable and it has way more room than you could ever imagine. And since it runs on 87 octane it helps a bit at the pump .. even with the over estimation of the MPG.

My brother had one for 10 years and had minor problems. He would still be driving it today if someone hadn't smashed into it. It was a really great car. I know I'm going to look at them when I go car shopping next! I curently drive a vw, but never again wil I buy another one!

We have a 2009 Kia Rio5 (hatchback) and its definitely an awesome little car. We use it to drive about 100kms a day (commute), and its definitely doing its job. The mileage cant be beat either, even driving that much, we use about a tank a week, which here is about $45 a week.

It doesn't have tons of power so if you're planning on racing down the highway well above the speed limit then its probabyl not for you, but if you want a comfy little car thats cheap on gas, I'd go for it.

I'm pretty sure the Optima has lightly less fuel efficiency but a bit more power, so I'd say its a good buy.

I've had 2 of them...I bought a Kia Sephia brand new...it was so aful and was in the shop so much and they couldn't EVER fix it. Didn't matter which dealership it went to, it wouldn't stay running. Every time I took it in for them to fix one thing, something else broke while they were trying to fix it. After 3 years and the dealership finally realizing it was a lemon, KIA offered me to pick another KIA and simply pay the difference. I said yes, not because I wanted a KIA but because I wanted a car that would run! I got a KIA Sportage. The Sportage was better than the Sephia, but I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER KIA EVER.....

Husband owns a Kia and while it's not a really nice sports car it meets his need for an economical and safe means of transportation. I drive it when my Mercury breaks down :).
He's had no issues. I've had a bevy of them. Of all the cars we've owned, it's really the cheapest car both in style and accessories, but it runs every time and he's had no issues.
    I like it.

I have a 2011 Kia Soul. I love it. It gets about 24 mpg in the city driving. You can't beat the warrantee.

I purchased a Kia Spectra5 in '08 and love it. The customer service I have received from their maintenance department where I go for oil changes and preventative maintenance has been outstanding, unlike anything I have ever had at other dealerships.

However, like others have said, I've noticed it is wearing out faster than the Chevy Cavalier I drove. (The chevy started wearing out in the 70-80K range, but my Kia is starting to feel the wear in tear in the 50-60K mileage range).

The mileage is great. I drive mostly highway and average 30-35 mpg.

I have had a Kia Sedona since 2003, and aside from normal wear and tear it's been reliable. I will definitely get another when this one's time comes.

I owned a Kia in 2007. I think it was a 2003 Kia Sportage. Fun little car to drive, but it had lots of issues. Ended up totalling it when I pulled out in front of a hulking 78 Chevy van. Crushed it like a Coke can. I don't really consider the Kia a smart buy. In my experience, they are not made very well, and therefore, not dependable. But the company may have changed the way they manufacture their products since I owned one. Just my opinion. I would not buy another one.

My wife has a Kia and I disagree with the perception that they wear out quickly. The older ones would wear down but the new ones are getting top grades in every area....and they back it with the warranty and give you a rental (no charge) if something does happen.

Have a kia forte. Love it. Went from a honda CRV that was in the shop once a month and bleeding me dry. I fell for the Honda name and was very dissapointed. At least I know if I have issues with this car in the future I have an amazing warranty.
