I need some low-carb inspiration!

Hi all,
I have been on MFP as of January, and have lost 15lbs. Have not lost in over 2 months, mainly due to moving house, changes in my working hours, less exercise and generally falling down with juink food.
I am going to try this week to cut down on my carbs - not cut out completely, but have a dramatic reduction, as I eat far too many and I am desperate to lose a few more pounds before I go on holiday in 4 weeks.
Does anyone here eat low carb meals, and if so will you either a) give me some good ideas for low carb dinners, or b) add me so I can get inspiration from your diary?
Thanks!

I am just starting week 3 of low carb. Ive lost 3 pounds. My dr told me to start at 100 and taper down to 50 a day.
My cravings went away in week 2. Counting the carbs on here sure helps...I didnt realize how fast they add up.
Im still learing what to eat, I found Orowheat Sandwich Thins Multigrain, 22 carbs minus 5 fiber is only 17 carbs...lots less than regular bread. I have this for breakfast alot..toasted with either goat cheese or almond butter.
Last night I used them to make myself mini pizzas, toasted them, topped with little sauce, slice of chedder, some chicken sausage and veggies.
these are the only bread i eat now.0 -
I recently found Tumaro's brand low-carb tortillas...4 net carbs per tortilla! I use these for EVERYTHING! Sandwich wraps, burritos, I even make chips out of them!0

Great recipes - she reviews them at the bottom of each, I generally agree with her recommendations.0 -
I do not eat as low carb as some, I keep mine at 20% of daily calories, but I eat lots of low carb meals feel free to add me.0

I have been able to lose consistently when I stick to low carb eating. I will warn you though....if you go low carb and blow out one weekend with alot of processed carbs then you will gain weight back quickly.
I keep my carbs under 60 per day. And try to get in 100 grams of protein per day. Mind you I said try.
It is challenging but doable. If you don't like vegetables then it will be harder for you. Remember to stay away form starchy vegetables like beans and potatoes.
If I am making fajitas or tacos for dinner. Then I use leaves of lettuce for my "taco shell". it is actually pretty good and gives you that crunch.
I eat string cheese and/or almonds for snacks.
Good luck.0 -
I see you like sausages - there are low carb ones like the Black Farmer and others but you have to look for >90% pork and check the labels. Asda ES gluten free are another. Have green beans with them, not baked beans, either steamed or fried in coconut or similar healthy oil, and fried onions and another veg like broccoli or cauliflower.
I would step away fromt he bread completely, you're getting big chunks of carbs and calories from that. No more juice drinks either.
To go low carb you'll be eating more fat (assuming protein already sensible) so don't pick the light / diet / lean versions. Chicken, turkey, tuna are low carb but also low fat - consider beef mince (20% fat), salmon, mackerel etc as alternatives.0 -
Feel free to add me. I try to eat under 20 grams of carbs per day. My diary is open to my friends so maybe you could get some ideas. Also, you could try looking up recipes on YouTube. Just do a search for "low carb" and you'll get tons of ideas. Good luck:)0

I eat a lot of fruit carbs, not sure if that is also bad but I have a hard time reducing the carbs. I'm working on it. I'd also like some advice about the fruit as to the grain carbs being better for you or not. Or is a carb a carb no matter whether it's a fruit or bread carb.0

A carb is a carb...unless it is fiber or sugar alcohol. Those 2 have minimal effect on blood sugar, so they sorta don't count. The Atkins plan uses "net carbs" . If you eat a 12 carb cracker, and it has 1 gram of fiber in it, you only count 11 towards your total. If you choose your food wisely, you can eat pretty much until you are stuffed. This morning I had 2 eggs, 4 slices of soy bacon, a slice of cheese, AND a high fiber tortilla...for lunch I went to Bob Evans and had a lunch sized cobb salad and half a biscuit with butter. I'm at 860 calories, 44 carbs, 11 fiber for the day ( so 33 net carbs--carbs that count).Since I worked out this morning, I have almost 1200 calories, and 20 or so carbs left for the day.0 -
thank you for that information, I really appreciated it.0
