snacks besides fruit and veggies

hey everyone,
i eat a lot of fruit and veggies during the day, especially for my snacks. i get a bit bored though, and sometimes i'll have something 'bad' and thats what will start a binge.
what do you all eat as snacks - besides fruit and veg? i'd love some new ideas. i have celiac disease so wont be able to eat anything with gluten in it, but would appreciate any ideas you want to share! :-)

I agree with the nut thins, they're delicious, and gluten free. I know some celiacs can't have cheese; can you? I know Cabot cheese is gluten free. That would be good to have some cheese (protein!) with the nut thins. When I first found out I was pregnant I LIVED on the nut thins. That's all that would keep the nausea at bay. I bought them 5 boxes at a time. Might have lasted me a week - went through almost a box a day. SO yummy.0

I recently picked up some Crunchmaster crackers from Costco. They are very yummy and gluten free! I eat them plain or with hummus. The name is kinda goofy, but they are definitely worth a try.0

Gluten free cereal.
I have not paid enough attention to what is gluten free and what is not, but I eat granola bars, string cheese, apple sauce, cereal, occasional hard mints, pretzel thins, whole grain crackers.
Some websites like chocolatecoveredkatie.com has sweet stuff that is vegan, and at least some are gluten free I believe.0 -
What about corn chips made from corn tortillas? You can cut them and spray them with cooking spray and bake for 10 min at 350 with some fresh salsa.0

I snack on peanut butter, string cheese, homemade trail mix, cottage cheese, protein shakes and fruit.0

I normally have greek yogurt, granola bars, apple with peanut butter.....if I want something chip like I REALLY love pop chips and the new special K cracker crisps.0

Frozen yogurt bites...my new favorite. Take some greek yogurt(any kind you like) put it in a bag and cut a cornor off. Make little dots on some wax paper and freeze them. Depending on the size you make them will determine the calories but I make mine sorta small and they are about 3 calories a bite. Its like eating healthy ice cream lol and 5 usuallyis enough for me!!0

Go Go Applesauce in pouches. 60 cals, Take them anywhere. Quick hit when you need a snack to prevent splurging because you are hungry. At Costco (Yes, I look funny eating what looks like kids food....but it works well for me.)0

Greek yogurt, apple chips, apple sauce, laughing cow cheese with crackers, hummus and pita chips (Trader Joes has guilt free pita chips that are pretty good), English muffins, special k bars.
Frozen yogurt bites sound pretty good! I'll have to try them0 -

ATKINS SNACK IDEAS:
Veggies & dip (low carb salad dressing works)
Bell pepper strips with blue cheese dressing
Celery with cream cheese

Cucumbers with vinegar
Devilled eggs

Egg salad (add veggies to up your veggie carbs)

I keep a supply of snacks and treats in small portions - cheese, nuts, raisins etc so I don't eat more than a portion. I also like ham or chicken spread with Philadelphia cheese as a snack. Frozen grapes work well (still fruit, but a bit different). Weight Watchers do nice mini cakes and treats and give me the taste of cake without going overboard. A few treats a week stop me feeling I am missing out and then bingeing.0

If you want something quick and warm, chicken broth is delicious and satisfying. Maybe chop up some carrots or celery and boil it in there to make it more substantial?0

Dip those fruits and veggies in peanut butter or hummus. Nuts, dry roasted edamame, fresh edamame, smoked salmon, chips & salsa, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese.0

When you say "bad" what do you mean? Do you crave sweet, or salty?
If you're caving something like potato chips, you can bake your own chips at home with better ingredients. You can make it out of much more than just potatoes, too. Kale, carrots, beets, etc. Lots of veggies work. You can also try popcorn. Buy some kernels and brown bags and make your own. Popcorn isn't a bad "cheat" snack when it's not drowned in artificial butter flavorings.
If you're wanting something sweet, just think about what your favorite sweet thing is, and try to replicate it with less. If you're just a chocolate hound, buy some semi-sweet chocolate chips, grab a handful, and bake them on top of some fruit (baked apples and cinnamon!), or add it to a smoothie.
When I'm feeling like I want to eat something bad, I let myself have something similar to what I ate before, but made a healthier way. It's a good way to wean yourself off your bad habits and replace them with better ones. It's what I did, and I find that now after having that stuff out of my system, I'm even starting to want my replacements less and less.0 -

Hummus is a great treat. 2 Tbsp. 45 calories from Trader Joes in 4 flavors. I dipped my artichoke in it at dinner and thought it was better than butter.0
