My name is Danielle (Golfgal425) and I'm pretty new to the MFP arena. I just started last week and I LOVE It so far! I just turned 30 and decided this is the best time in my life to make a serious life change, for my health, happiness, and future.
Between April 29 and May 11, I was in a comprehensive diet and weight loss program at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center at Duke University, one of the best programs for those who struggle with weight and eating issues. Having struggled with an eating disorder for a very long time, this program was an absolute miracle for me. I'm now aware of what I'm eating, how I eat, the way my body feels, and what I'm thinking about food and my emotions. I never did any of this before, and instead I ate mindlessly and in such a way that I never had to deal with my emotions.
On the nutritional side, MFP has been an amazing supplement to help me realize WHERE my calories/fat/carbs/proteins are going, and how they are allocated. Where I used to plan out binges and where my next stash of cupcakes was coming from, I now dedicate myself to putting in my calories and scanning food packages with every meal. Binging used to be my control. Now accounting for what I eat is my control.
I'm looking for friends who are on similar journeys as me, to help inspire me and to keep me going along the way. I presently weigh 230.5. While at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center I lost about 10 lbs. I started this journey at 242.5 lbs. I know I have a long way to go, but I'm really, really excited to be a healthier, happier me! :-) I look forward to meeting you guys!

Hi Danielle,
I havent been on a similar journey, I did the opposite, I used to not eat for days weeks etc then go and eat for a few days. Until i was pregnant then I ate everything, now suffering the consequance of this and feel pants about my weight. I am similar in the fact I now plan my meals and scan everything to make sure I know cal/fat etc.
Please feel free to add me and we can support each other through our weight loss.0 -
Welcome Danielle! My journey is quite similar to yours, same starting weight and the long time struggle with food. MFP has been a great tool in my life since I joined in April and everyone on here is always so supportive! Feel free to add me as a friend, I would love to offer friendship and support as we go through this journey.
