First Time Dieter

Greetings everyone. Not only am I new to this site, I'm new to dieting. When I was in high school and college, I played sports year around and ate anything I wanted. Well, let's just say I'm not in college anymore and have added 2 children to the mix. I've slowly been gaining over the years since college and when I went to the doctor this week and my weight was over 160 (I was less than 115 in college), I decided that I had to put a stop to it. I wasn't planning on joining a site like this, but it seems like it will make it easy to monitor what I eat and my exercise. As this is my first time down the diet path, I definitely need tips, guidance and support to break some long standing bad eating habits. I've gone to the gym 3 times this week. Good start, but starting isn't hard for me -- it's keeping things going. Thought I could lose 25 lbs with exercise alone, but after putting in what I ate to today and see the totals, I realize I need a new plan. Well, that' about it. I wish everyone the best in reaching their goals.

Welcome, we are glad you found us. And lucky you, to be dieting for the first time and doing it the right way from the beginning. Although most of us refer to this as a lifestyle, not a "diet". Lots of good advice is listed in the top three postings under the General Diet and Weight Loss secion. Some very smart people answer the most common questions that new members have.0

Welcome to the community!
The thing that I love most about this site, besides the fact it will track your exercise and food, is the people. It is a place for great motivation and support. Never be afraid to ask questions, or for help when you need it. There are always people here that are willing to give you some support along the way. And you also learn a lot.
It sounds like you do have a great start. And that can be the biggest challenge, just starting. Then it is sticking to it One thing that I find helps me is that I don't think so much of it as a diet, as I do a lifestyle change. Yes I REALLY want to lose weight, but I also want to be healthier, be more active and more self confident. I want a better lifestyle for myself.
So, good luck to you, and remember, we're all in this together, and together we can do it!

You have come to a good place. I won't say it will be easy, but it will be easier here with friends than by yourself. Be kind to yourself on days when things don't go well and we will celebrate with you when things go well.
Good Luck!0 -
