The company I work for does a wellness week this time every year and we can sign up for a full health screen which includes blood work. Last year my total cholesterol was 159, LDL 95 (bad) and HDL 47 (good) and this year my total cholesterol dropped to 144, LDL 80 and HDL 50! I am so proud of myself for sticking to my healthy eating the last few years and driving those numbers to where they should be for a healthy person without using statin drugs/prescriptions.

I hope everyone on here checks their cholesterol at least annually.

That's wonderful! I'm currently on Lipitor and although I don't recall my #s they were not that bad. So, I have changed the way I eat and I go back to the doc in August for blood work to hopefully come off these pills. I've lost 70lbs in the last year, I too would be curious how much weight you lost during the last year. Congrats! :)

i have high cholesterol, and your total went down probably more so due to exercise and losing weight, not so much "clean eating". good job non-the-less! bad cholesterol is pretty rigid, and if you have a gentic predisposition, like myself, good luck. the only thing keeping me alive is i have a very HIGH HDL. :drinker: :smokin:

Last year was really my weight loss year where I lost over 40 lbs and dropped my cholesterol from 185 to 159. This year has been a "maintain" year weight wise but truthfully I want to eventually lose another 10. I've been hovering around 186-188 and would love to see the 170's! ; )
