Help for My Husband

My husband has seen my success using MFP, and is wanting to lose weight now too. He is having trouble and is getting very discouraged. He has lost about 10 pounds in 6 weeks, but hasn't lost much in the last couple of weeks.
Can some of the guys here that have about 2500 calories, please share their food diary with me?
I am having trouble figuring out what things he should eat because he has to eat about 1000 calories more than me.
Thanks for any help you can give.

is it strictly weight loss he is going after or is it muscle gain? both? i'll be happy to help you guys curtail a diet if you would like to message me. i can at least give you guidance towards what to eat and when to eat that should help tremendously.

my husband adds peanut butter, hummus, whole grain crackers beyond what I eat.
he also has a slightly larger portion of chicken or fish, eats hard boiled eggs for snacks, and eats more fresh fruit
my husband and i have lost over 100 pounds between us in six months and have enjoyed planning meals together and going for walks
we have cut out caffeine, white sugar, white flour, and artificial sweeteners and aimed for nutrition dense foods and no empty calories
Best wishes to you both   :bigsmile:0 -
Hi barbiecat,
Just a question ...you said you cut out caffeine, white sugar and sugar substitute. What do you drink? Do you only drink water? I've gone from regular pop to diet pop, then from diet pop to crystal light. Trying to figure out how else to "tweek" my food/drink intake so the weight will come off. Never have really liked plain water much.0 -
I hate plain water too. I've gone one step beyond crystal light: seltzer water. It still gives me the bubbles that I've missed, but without the sweeteners / calories.0

I make iced tea using herb tea. When I first made it I put artificial sweetener in it and gradually put in less and less until there was none at all.
Everything I do now has been accomplished by taking baby steps getting closer to my ultimate plan. I drank Crystal Light alternating with water at first but the more I read about artificial sweeteners being unhealthy, the more I was determined to cut down a little at a time until I stopped them altogether.
I drink a lot of water now but it was a struggle for me at first. I would have to force myself at first. I made a rule that I couldn't log on to MFP or turn on the TV unless I drank 8 ounces of water first.. I keep a glass on the kitchen counter all day and bring a bottle of water when I go somewhere. The more I do, the easier it gets. I have a pad of paper and pencil in the kitchen near my water glass and I put a tally mark for every 8 ounces so I can tell at the end of the day if I drank enough water.
