Should I up my calories?

So, MFP put me on a 1210 calories diet, and I have no problem at keeping to that number, I'm never starving and eat everything I did before, just at smaller amount and minus the huge amount of sweets (thanks mfp for helping with that!)

The thing is, I havn't seen much progress. a lot of people at this site have been talking about eating more to lose more (yes, iv'e seen that group!), but it's had for me to belive that eating more than I usally do will help. plus, I read that it makes you gain weight at the beginning, which I'm really afraid of because it's swimsuit season.

So, should I up my calories? to how much? and how can I eat more calories without having anything too bad?

It really will help you in the long run. To find out how much you should eat to lose at a normal rate, calculate your BMR and your TDEE (basal metabolic rate and total daily energy expenditure). You should subtract 500 from your TDEE to lose a pound a week, or more safely, 250 for 1/2 pound a week - which is a good idea if you don't have much left to lose.

It's working for me! I upped my calories awhile back and even quit worrying about going over by a few 100 calories a couple days per week. I didn't really gain much -honestly I had been bouncing between the same 3 or 5lbs for quite a while, and continued to do so once I upped myself to 1700 cals. Then after several weeks - boom! my scale finally went down. :)

I'm almost to my current goal, so losses are slow for me anyway, but I was pretty well stuck until I started eating more.
