    but I have heard this but I thought it was more from a freshness perspective. If its starting to get ~EH~ Mushy...It makes it more *AHEM* firm because it draws out the -um- liquid :bigsmile:

    You definitely want to rub your cucumber. It helps immensely! I guarentee it won't be bitter.

    My mom actually told me to do this too. She swears it works....Hmmm... i do have some cucumbers ill try it today, let you know.

    Try an English cucumber or sometimes they are called seedless cucumbers. This type of cucumber is longer and skinnier but the best part is that the skins are edible and not bitter!

    My Grandma and mom always told us the same thing, Cut the ends, rub then peel..... But only do it with the local ones, not the English variety, apparently it makes them taste better and less bitter.....
