Alittle back ground....I am 38 yr old female....5 ft 3in...had 1 child 20 yrs ago....been overweight for 20 yrs now....starting weight 215.8...want to get down to 150lbs. My BIGGEST FEAR in all of this is extra skin....so I am wondering if those of you with similar stats as mine have extra skin or did it firm back up? I can already tell my boobies are gonna be hanging to my knees but I DONT WANT EXTRA BELLY SKIN!! I am horrified!

TIA

I would like to know the answer too. I am looking in to have a tummy tuck when I get this weight off, but if there is a way to do it with the surgery I would be very happy!

drink lots of water, lose the weight steadily and slowly and exercise. i read that cardio helps and do i both cardio and weight training. my arms are firming up nicely and so are my legs, only dealing with some extra skin on my tummy now, but i have read that it takes up to 1-2 years after being at goal for it to completely firm up. mine still has fat under it, so hard to tell. extra skin is usually from losing weight to fast and losing to much muscle with the fat from what i know.

It depends on the persons health, genetics, how they are loosing, and the amount of weight loss. If its 30 pounds, probably no problem. If its 130 thats a different story.

Twould be interesting to see some pics of people who are willing tho!

Ive lost 80 total in the past 3 years. You have to body-build and do Cardio to get your body to consume the skin. Unless you take drugs. your not going to end up looking like a man. Don't worry about bulking up. Research form and go at it. Keep in mind coming from husky, your legs are your assests, they have the most mass and will require the most protein to replenish from a work out.

I'm pretty much in the same boat...had my only child almost 24 years ago and held onto the weight..I have a sag and flab every which way... My stomach flap makes me cry..I finally took underwear pictures and it was sad. I tried to measure my hips and didn't know if I should measure with the stomach or lift it up and measure that way... I hate even saying this in this forum.

I'm seriously hoping losing slowly and weight lifting will help but my light at the end of the tunnel is that i can get surgery paid for the stomach excess skin....The gals will just have to get extra strength support bras.

I know we can do this and get rid that skin!!!! :)

I know exactly how you feel about your flap of stomach. I have it too and it is my worst ememy. I will be soooooooooo glad when it is gone!! I do think it will prob take the longest to go away since the fat is so concentrated there.

It might take a few years, but I've definitely heard of people who have lost 100lbs+ and tightened up their skin with time and exercise. Don't expect everything to look "normal" right away because it will take a while for your body to catch up. I believe almost anything is possible without surgery and I wouldn't recommend resorting to it without waiting and working first.
