Well ..... i was doing fantastic...until the weekend came....i wont get into details....but consumed probably 6000 calories in 2 days......maybe more.....probably more...pizza....burgers.....it was very delicious....but devastating to my plan......how do you find the weekends?? Any tips on not binging on the devils foods?? lol Although i went off track....ive still managed to lose my first 4 pounds this week!!!! Im so excited!!!!

Even though i had a terrible weekend food wise......im still commited to losing this weight and will be back on track today.... a slip up once in a while should be ok??? shouldnt it??? If i never ate pizza again youd have to commit me to the mental hospital because i would go absolutely mental!!!

Don't think that you can never eat that stuff again, you just have to eat it in moderation. Have one piece of pizza with salad instead of 3. It's unrealistic for many people to never eat that stuff again. Don't worry, its good that you are already back on the wagon and 4 pounds in your first week is awesome! Keep it up! Have a great Sunday (the weekends not over so you didn't do bad at all)

congrats on losing 4 lbs!! i would say treat your weekends like a weekday as much as you can. yeah, rotuines are different, but the more you stay on track the more likely you are to live and manage a healthy lifestyle. don't give up on all your favorites. moderation and portion size is key. get back in groove and stay positive! you can do it!

Ya gotta have a PLAN--and STICK to it. :flowerforyou: For me, that means, if I know I am going to partake in some higher calorie foods, I kick up the cardio exercise the day before, and eat a little lighter. On the day the higher calorie food will be eaten, I also make sure to get some cardio work in as well. You also have to exercise restraint. Get an idea of the caloric "cost" of what you are going to be eating ahead of time, so you can exercise portion control.

In this way, you can still enjoy the foods you like, not feel deprived, stay on your program. Even if you are up a pound or so, you know it will drop back off in a day or two--so long as you haven't put your body into "starvation mode" but not consuming enough calories on previous days.

To avoid that situation, I have been deliberately eating 800 or so calories MORE than I usually do, everying 3- 4 weeks. It is called zig zagging. If you incorporate it into your eating habits, it can actually help you in to ways, first use it on a day when you are going to be having that juicy burger or pizza,  and secondly, it keeps your metabolism from slowing down. For the finer points of this process, google "zig zag calories" to learn more.

Hi....I just want to comment on the zig-zag pattern.....I always graph my weight loss (im always losing the same weight over and over) Anyway it is always in a zig- zag pattern. ALWAYS But eventuallly it zig-zags in a downward zag. Im never alarmed by the pattern.
    Have a great day.:flowerforyou:

    .
I think we are talking about different things zigging and zagging. I was referring to the amount of CALORIES, not your weight loss. I have been doing this since April, and my graph for loss is going steadily DOWN, with the exception of the last 3 weeks, where I maintained but didn't lose, due to a disruption in my workouts, caused by a scheduling issue.

BTW, would still LOVE to know the name of that cute little Maltese you have:smile:

What was the scenario that led you to the pizza and burgers? Maybe you could avoid that situation in the future, or plan for low-calorie healthy alternatives. Eating pizza is what makes you crave it. After 2 or 3 weeks on a calorie-restricted diet, your craving will fade away and you will wonder what the big deal was. I try to think of pizza as nothing more than a big plate of salty fat.

Good luck! You can do it.

I know exactly what you mean about the weekends! I did terrible yesterday... but like a lot are suggesting, I also did quite a bit of cardio...yesterday and today!! I find it so easy to keep within the alloted calories during the week, but my weekends SUCK!! LMAO I am definitely trying to curb that though.... I'm also making sure that I drink a lot of water... maybe it's a myth but it seems help! Congrats on your first 4 lbs!!!

I have exactly the same problem... pizza, wine etc. It's just too tempting not to let yourself go on the weekends isn't it? I just put it down to the fact that I am super strict during the week and I allow myself treats on the weekend. I think I went over my calories by about 400 or so, but during the week I always seem to be under calories, so I figure it works itself out. As long as you are losing weight in the long run I don't see a problem with indulging on weekends
  • I'm right there with ya!!!! Went to a neighborhood party last night and I just finished logging my calories for all the food and drinks I had (that I can remember LOL) and I was 1300 calories over for the day! EEEEKKK! I even got myself psyched up to not go over, but it didn't work. My feeling though, is that I can't worry about that anymore and just focus on the 5 pounds I lost so far. Since I don't party like that too often, I will still get to my goal despite one really bingy day every once and awhile!

So.....don't beat yourself up, but learn from it and be reasonable. If you eat like that one weekend day every couple of weeks, you'll still get to your goal! Good luck!

give yourself a day off every week, as recommended by the Body for Life program. it keeps your metabolism from adjusting to a lower-calorie diet, and gives you the motivation for the other six days of careful eating. works for me!

It's exactly the opposite for me - during the week I'm dragging myself to get exercise in, but this weekend I did 2 hours Tai Chi in the park yesterday and went for a 7k walk around Stanley Park today. Plus I've got more time to eat healthy food, instead of grabbing something from the fridge as I'm rushing out of the house in the morning. I  weekends!

    Barb,
My Maltese has two names...".baby dog"....and Kirby. He comes to both names.
Sorry to confuse you about the zig -=zagging .....I will follow your suggestion and google zig-zag calories. It might be something I am interested in.:indifferent:
