Need advice!

So recently ..about 5 weeks ago I started my weight loss journey..so far Im down 11 pounds and have been really strict with not eating any sugar or salt..mostly lean chicken and veggies and sweet potatos! Yum!!! anyway this Saturday is my best friends birthday so she wants to have a girls day..she wants to go see a movie ..go eat and go bowling as well as drinking..now I havent been a big drinker for a couple years(since I had my son..my tolerance for alcohol just vanished!) but this Saturday I want to let lose and not count calories all day I just wanna have a good time. How can I do that..because when I step on the scale on Monday I will be so depressed. I do believe in everyone having a cheat day or meal.. once a week. I havent had one in 5 weeks..I want one!..lol my thoughts is that since Im off Friday I would go to the gym in the morning and that night and also on that Saturday morning..Eat some cheerios and skim milk and nothing else until we go out?? is that a good tactic?? I am still trying to find the best calories for me..MFP says I should eat 1770 calories a day and because I never get to excercise (sedentary) I cut that to about 13-1400 and about 80oz of water is this wrong?..Im sorry I know Im asking alot of different questions but I think I should have lost more then 11bls in 5 weeks and want to make sure Im not doing anything wrong..I just want to have a great time this weekend ..please help!

Do not.... I repeat... Do NOT get on the scales on Monday after having this fun day!! Hide it/ get your partner to hide it.. Stay right away from it! Have your day and then just jump straight back into it the next day and down a TONNE of water to help flush your system out... Enjoy your friends birthday!! :)
  • Meegz is right - do NOT get on the scales on Monday.
You've done really well so far - really good losses and you can continue, even with an off day.
After 5 weeks, you deserve to have a good time.
Try not to go too overboard but make sure you have fun and enjoy yourself.
Have a good workout and keep your carbs to a minimum and you'll do fine.
Get back on track the next day and leave the weigh in until the next week.
Have a great day and well done!

Don't weight yourself until a week after. Just start up your healthy eating again, and by a week the water retention should be gone. :P
Also, see a doctor about your calorie intake. If you cannot see a doctor, it would be safer to eat the 1600-1700 calories and try to throw in a walk.

My advice is to go have fun. I admire your ability to plan extra workouts ahead of time. I know when an event is coming up and just prepare myself that I will be off that week. I know I can't restrict myself at special events, etc for the rest of my life so I just make sure going off doesn't last more than the length of the event. I do weigh myself every day and it does go up but as long as I jump back on the bandwagon right away it goes down again. Have fun!

You sound like you've got a good plan in place. It's definitely much more reliable to earn it ahead of time than pay it back after! (Or it would be for me.)
I would add to other replies, that while you should allow yourself a good time, do listen to that little voice inside your head if it happens to speak up. The one that says 'this isn't quite as delicious as I'd remembered' or 'i've had enough of that now'. I know it doesn't always get heard, but when it does, you're so GLAD then next day when you haven't wasted energy on stuff that you didn't enjoy that much.
You've had great results, well done.

I have off days once in a while. I still count calories on those days, just out of curiosity - I want to know how much more I ate. Surprisingly it is not that much more, especially if I work out before. I suggest you do eat as usually that day and do not save the calories for the evening, so you don't binge later on. And also alcohol on an empty stomach is not going to be well tolerated.

By the way, after some days off, my scale shows that I lost and not gained. Strange but it is true.
