Hi Guys,
Today, I had my first protein shake LOL...
Any pointers on whether I should have the shake before or after workout.

*. I workout in the morning in the gym which mainly consists of 40-50 minutes of cardio and 25-30 minutes of strength training.
*. I dont eat anything before the workout in the gym.
*. My goal at the moment is weight loss and muscle conditioning (to being with)
*. I am vegetarian, Without protein shake my protein is hardly around 60-70g/day. It only touched 100g few days ago.

Hope this information is sufficient for you guys to advice something.

Cheers.

after, to supply proteins for muscle repair. Also some studies show better weight loss from exercise in fasted state compared to a pre-exercise meal.

    Thanks Yarwell.
Just out of curiosity, I normally drink around 1.5 litres of water during the workout. Is it ok to shift protein in any dose of that water?

    Cheers.

Don't see why not, but I'm not an expert. If you drink during exercise it'll take a while for the proteins to get to the muscles.

I've been thinking about adding a protein shake, too. Anybody have recommendations for one that they particularly like the taste of?

I've always been told carbs before, protein after.

Carbs to give you energy to complete the workout, protein after to assist in muscle repair.

    timing doesn't really matter.

I have a shake after along with some carbs, but you can drink the shake whenever you want.
You should be eating protein throughout the day, so the timing of one shake shouldn't really change anything.
