"Let the dragon ride again on the winds of time" -Robert Jordan Wheel of time - under the writing I would et the symbols of the 3 main male characters a red and gold chinese dragon, a scarlett gloved fist and a golden wolfs head

"Remember it happy; the sun in your eyes." - final line from Accident by Nicholas Mosley.

Just not 100% sure where as I want another quote, non-literary, on my right ribs. Perhaps left arm - I have history there.

    De gustibus non est disputandum

That phrase has always stuck in my mind for some reason.

    pretty sure it means

Gusto (or attitude or verve or passion) is not a dispute (argument)... or like passion is not arguing..

    something like that right?

    I dig it!

"I was born to hustle roses down the avenues of the dead"
    (Bukowski)

    or

"All the while shall my heart be
With the bulge and nuzzle of the sea"
    (e.e.cummings)

I met a guy in a club who had "He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man" tattooed round his forearm. It was one of my favorite ever tattoos.

Don't dream it... be it. - This has been a personal mantra of mine since I first saw Rocky Horror
Immerse your soul in love. - My favorite Radiohead lyric (would go with my Radiohead tat)
Shine on you crazy diamond - Pink Floyd
All that is now, and all that is gone, and all that's to come, and everything under the sun - Eclipse from Pink Floyd
She's not a girl who misses much - Beatles
blue-eyed devil - from a Soul Coughing song.

For picture form - I'd get two fishes in a fishbowl. For the song lyric - "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year."

"And though she be but little, she is fierce." - Shakespeare

It's on my profile and I do plan on getting it tattooed..... soon.

    That is awesome.

For me, I'd probably put a small "42" on the inside of my wrist. I'd also get this, from the "Journey's End" poem in Return of the King:

"Above all shadows rides the Sun
    and Stars for ever dwell;
I will not say the Day is done,
    nor bid the Stars farewell."

And for those using music, my real name is Layla - so I'm planning on getting the piano coda from the song (in sheet music form) across my upper back with an image of a small bird taking flight at the end of it (for the "chirping" sound).

Another idea I saw was from Harry Potter - it was an image of a scroll which, under blacklight, revealed the words "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." -- DISCLAIMER: blacklight tattoos are really not safe... it was just a neat picture :P

Last, but not least, as a contender:

"There is no Death. There is only the Force."

...who'm I kidding? That's not the last option I can think of.

"Winter is Coming" George RR Martin's Game of Thrones series (and yes I was a fan LOOOONG before the HBO show!)

YES! My husband & I are seriously considering getting House Martell's "Unbowed, unbent, unbroken." (Also fans LOOOONG before the show.)

It is to remind me to relax and to not take life so seriosusly.

Or "faith, trust and pixie dust" - from Peter Pan, my niece passed away in 2009 and that was her favourite movie so it's kind of fitting

    I also love this!
  • Most likely it would be "today I will make a difference" my sisters favorite quote.
Or "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" My favorite Verse

But I THink it would be really cool to have this "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." My favorite books of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgive me if I misquote this, I can't remember exactly how it goes.

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is doing something in spite of it.

And no, I don't know where it comes from.

I also have a saying on a magnet that I really like. It reads-"True courage lies within even the gentlest of hearts".

Not into tattoos, but if I had to it would be "Death be Not Proud" by John Donne

DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
    And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then;
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

    I LOVE THIS POEM!

I see friends shaking hands, sayin', "How do you do?"
They're really sayin', "I love you"

I know this is from a song and might not count, but this really resonates with me because without friends, life would be so bleak. Also, I think it is incredibly important to let people know how much they mean to you, even if you think they already know.

"At Night the Bats will Beat on the Trees, Knowing it all, Seeing What They Sensed All Day"

Its the last line of Anne Sexton's "Suicide Note"

This is already on my left upper arm♥ So I guess it was really mandatory for me!

My little sister died when I was 5. At her funeral, we sang I am Jesus' Little Lamb, the song still makes me cry to this day. I would get a picture of this, but it wouldn't be someplace visible because it is too personal to me.
