Does anyone else just feel desperate?

I haven't lost a single pound since the middle of March. Not a single one. Nothing, nadda, zip, zilch. My low weight is 181 and I just stepped on the scale and saw 188.... I know this is just water weight, and whatever and that it will be gone in a few days as per the usual, but I'm still really friggin upset. I just want to see a new low, even by .2 of a lb or something, anything! I am really feeling desperate and I'm not sure what to do anymore. I've tried eating more, I've tried eating less, I am going to the gym 5 times a week, which is 5 times more than I was going before and nothing seems to help me whatsoever. I could honestly just scream, or starve myself, or just anything. I am feeling so desperate to just see any loss. Ugh... Does anyone just feel desperate to lose more weight? I mean, I'm half way there... but it feels like I might as well be back at square one when I see myself in pictures. Sorry, I'm rambling, just really frustrated for the past while...

Sorry you are feeling frustrated, you are just in a funk now and will snap out of it. Instead of focusing on the weight loss part of it, why not try and set a fitness goal instead? I'm not sure what you do at the gym, but say you do the Elliptical every time for 20 minutes at 5 mph. Why not for every other minute increase the speed to 6 mph until you can complete the whole 20 minutes at 6 mph? Setting small goals to push yourself just a bit harder every time will give you something to keep working towards and give you more motivation. When the focus is all on the scale it's really easy to get down on yourself. Focus on things you can definitely change and the weight will come off.

Also, if you're going to the gym five times a week and not seeing any results maybe you need a new workout plan. If you've been doing the same thing for a while your body will get used to it and you won't be burning as many calories. Many gyms will offer a free consultation with a personal trainer, you might at least see what they recommend. If not, try going to class offered at your gym to get new and different ideas. Kickboxing is a great way to burn stress and burns a TON of calories.

Finally, are you using an HRM? It's really important to make sure you get an accurate count of how much you burn and the machines at the gym can't do that for you. If you don't know how much you're burning it makes it practically impossible to know how much you should really be eating. The posters at my gym advertise up to a 600 calorie burn for the Body Pump class they offer, I went yesterday and only burned 160. See the discrepancy?
