I've gotten a lot of medals. But only because some races give them to ALL finishers. :laugh:

FYI - a marathon is 26.2 miles. No more, no less.

These days most marathons (26.2 miles) and half marathons (13.1 miles) hand out finishers medals to all runners who complete the race.

If you are really fast or run really small races who can sometimes win age group "hardware." Generally the first three people in each age group win some little medal.

Age groups (AGs) usually have 5 year breaks (sometimes 10 years). I'm generally racing against males 45-49. At smaller 5k & 10K I can sometimes win hardware (when the fast people are racing somewhere else...).
