New Scale Blues

So I weighed myself at home, and the scale said I was 186 before I started any part of my work out program. When I came back to college, I bought myself a new (and cheap) scale. The scale said I was 194 pounds, even after a week of dieting and working out! How can I figure out what I really am and if the first scale was low or the second was too high? I am depressed because I feel like my hard effort this past week has went to waste!
