And me!!! Cant do any!!! I just fall on my face :laugh:0 -
Grr, I feel like such a weakling! I can only do 3 real push ups Tell me this will improve over time?
Seriously don't fret about it. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists (the joys of 30 years of bookkeeping), doing a push up on the floor is a killer. I found that doing it against a wall or on my gym ball cushions it a lot and I can try it. I use hand weights instead of push ups.0 -
Of course it will get better, I do between 50 and 100 every morning. When I first started back training I was struggling to do 5 in a row, can do 25 now but usually stick to sets of 15 before moving onto something else.
Keep at it.

LOL it gets easier. When I started 30 day shred I could barely do 3, by the end of the first week, could do 10, week 2, 15 etc. It's all about building that strength!0

Thanks so much everyone for your advice and tips! xo0

Try doing them on an incline using your stairs. First time keep your feet at floor level and your body up the stairs. Then once you can do 15, move your feet out, and come down a step, and so on, so that you gradually get closer to floor level.
Once you get down to the floor and can do them ok , turn around and put your feet on the stairs , this time going UP one stair at a time.0 -

When I first started doing p90x I had to do girly push-ups..If your familar with the work out the first dvd is all push up and pull ups. Now starting Phase 3 I can rock out ALL man push ups and EVEN DID MY FIRST PULL UP THIS WEEK!!! Stay with it! Youll get it!0

it will improve! I can know do 10 properly...0

I look at it like "I CAN do 3 whole pushups, go me!" In a week you'll be able to do double that, if not more, trust me! Feel good in that you're doing it, where other people don't even try.0
-
I can't even do 1 when I started working out, I just stayed in plank position, now I can do 20 push up jacks.... that's within 6 months time0

Stick with it..it does get better. In a few days you will do 4 and then 5 and next thing you know you will be doing 10. Just keep working at it and stay focused.0

I couldn't do any at all at my first attempt :-)0 -
It gets easier--
A month ago I was doing pushups on the counter
Then a weight bench
NOW GROWNUP PUSHUPS
so excited :bigsmile:0 -
It definitely does... I actually did 18 last night ( the big boy real ones!) I couldnt do 3 without dying 2 months ago!!0
-
When I started last fall I would do 3 real push ups and follow that with 5 girly-ones, and 3 sets of that. I no longer do them often but I can now bench press 100lbs.0
-
im up to 25 big boy pushups at a time...
tho i rarely do them now....I bench 110 right now....that usually takes care of that....but it got easier....I just pushed for 1 more a week.....I started at 3.....and they looked horrible when I first started0 -
Keep going. I could barely do 2-3 a year ago. I dropped and did 10 real ones in front of a construction crew one day just for fun!! :bigsmile:0

That's three more than me......

On the 30 Day Shred I could only do like 3 pushups in the beginning. Ten days later I was doing 23. It will get better. Just gotta build up the strength. Try each day to do one more than the day before.0
-
I agree 3 is good for starting out. I couldn't even get passed one of them. your no weakling at all.0
-
Ha! I can't even do one! I don't have any upper arm strength... YET! :-) Keep at it you'll be doing lots more soon, I can tell!0
