Hi I have been doing strictly cardio since I started at the gym a month ago. I am thinking that maybe 2 days a week I need to just do strength training (the weight machines) to maybe help with the weight loss. Is this a good idea or should I stick with cardio 6x a week??
What should the "weight" feel like when working with the exercise machines??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated....

I'm a fairly new newbie to weights as well, but yes you should definitely be adding weight training to your routine.
There are a few books that get rave reviews around here. New Rules of Lifting for Women. Stronglifts 5x5 and Starting strength. You might want to pick one up.
The weight should be heavy enough that when you finish your required sets, you can't lift anymore.0 -
Lift as heavy as you can for 5-12 reps.
I do StrongLifts 5x5 and prefer free weights over the machines, they require 'stabilizer' muscles to support your lifts and you get more benefits.0 -
If you can, depending on your gyms equipment, then use free weights over machines.0
