On the 11th – 15th June, my work our holding a ‘Health Week’.

As part of our events team, it is my job to come up with some fun/healthy activities to organise for the week. Activities that as well as being fun, also promote good health and wellbeing.

These activities need to either be physically active and enjoyable or a fun way of providing valuable health information. E.g. knowing how to recognise symptoms for things or providing alternative treatment to headaches etc. rather than just taking tablets or fun stuff like massages or Wii fit.

If you have any fun ideas or valuable advice that you think I could incorporate in to our ‘Health Week’ then please do let me know!

I’m sure you MFP peeps have a wealth of fun and health knowledge between you!

Fire away…

Please and thanks :-)

I did "walk and talk" meetings. Short walks around the block while talking about specific work items we would normally do at sit down meeting. Get a route, go with them. a scribe can take a short note or two, summarize outcome in an email immediately afterward. Not for everybody but gets some participation.

How much space do you have available? Setting up a badminton court could be good as its great fun and good exercise.
Wii Fit you mentioned but there is also the likes of Zumba and Dance Central for Kinect.

Also, bake some weight watchers cakes to show how you can make even treat stuff less unhealthy.

How about a healthy recipe exchange...have everyone bring in their favorite recipe (with nutritional data included)....? I am always looking for new things to cook at home!

If you have the budget to have professionals come in, the possibilities are endless. You could line up a cooking class, or see if a local hospital could do health and fitness evaluations, blood pressure checks, spine/posture analysis....etc.

Also, check to see if maybe a local running shop would be interested in doing gait analysis or shoe recommendations for employees.

Oh...another one. If you don't already have this, check to see if a local health club/gym might be willing to offer discounted gym memberships to your company.
