Low sodium pasta sauce?

Has anyone had any luck finding any low sodium pasta sauce at the store? It's so frustrating that all of the pre-made ones have so much sodium!
Or does anyone have a good recipe for sauce that I could make at home?
Thanks in advance!

Hey!
I don't have a cookbook recipe or anything, but I do make my own sauce and it's very easy because you can play around with it however you like!
This is what I do:
I buy two cans of crushed tomatoes. Then I start by putting finely shopped onion and mined garlic with a little bit of olive oil in a pot. Cook those until they are translucent. Then I add the cans of tomatoes (and some tomato paste if we have any in the fridge). I add whatever spices I feel like adding after that has cooked on med-high for about 10 minutes.. oregano, bay leaf, salt and pepper, garlic salt.. whatever you want! It will always taste good!! Just cook it for about 45 minutes to an hour on low temp! You can control the salt this way!
Try it! It's easy!0 -
Trader Joes has a great organic marinara sauce that has no added sodium. It comes to like 25 g of sodium per 1/2 cup! And its delicious!
Only problem is that you have to have a Trader Joes! Here's hoping!0 -
I have gotten one from heinz and one from hunts that were very low sodium... look for the one that says no added salt and its usually 20-30mg0

Thanks to everyone for the help! I sure wish I had a Trader Joe's! :grumble:
I will look into the Heinz/Hunts tonight. If I can't find that, thanks for the recipe, timeforchange!0 -

And you can make a big batch and freeze it! Nothing better than homemade sauce! Something I'm really liking now that it's summer is grilling peppers, onion, zucchini, eggplant and putting that into the sauce. Even left over grilled chicken. Add some red wine for another flavor.
Cooking is fun! and you can control everything that goes in.0
